I'm looking at a 57trim Garrett and have the treadstone manifold. Will it fit or will I need slim fans?

Is there a general rule of thumb that says any turbo under xx size will fit with stock fans?

it should fit the factory shroud, but it may be very tight. i was running a treadstone mani in the past, and i actually drilled a hole in the shroud and pulled it closer to the front bumper. theres also alot more to take into account for clearance.

 

Turbo placement dictates the use of slim line fans. I don't think the treadstone mani with a run of the mill t3t4 will require slim line fans, however it's been sometime since iv messed with one. Treadstone used to make a kit, I'd look it up and see if it says slim fans are required.

all I see treadstone has is turbonetics manifolds, which im 100% positive they do not need slim fans. treadstone used to have their own mani but I dont see it listed on their site anymore.

 

Probably because everyone sold the EXACT same manifold for half the cost... lol

I was putting in a smaller turbo and it ended up being too small to be productive. Everything fit in but it was close to the fans and it was a .42/.48 housing, that's y I'm only worried about the fan clearance.

 

From what I remember the only problem u might run into is clearance from the wg. The nipple on top with hit the shroud depending which wg u have. I've seen people just cut a hole in the shroud so it will fit.

No, its not like the one in the pics. Ill post up a pic after I take one. Weird thing is we had to cut a notch in it on the passenger side below the last bolthole so it would fit over a little bumpout on the car.

Its nice to know I can cut the shrowd and be OK.

 

Maybe it is the same...

 

It shouldn't require slim fans, but make sure to run a turbo blanket, at the very least, cause I've actually completely melted parts of my shroud before
