Mine has been on for about 30k and its giving symptoms of a clutch going out. Is this normal? I autocrossed it like 4 weekends but I only put it in second gear and leave it there. I don't really drive it hard either. My clutch is a 6puck sprung that can hold up to 450. It was made for me by falcon clutch so I can't give you a link to what I have

 

I had an ACT solid disc clutch installed with a new fidanza flywheel and had over close to 40K and doing some service it looked like it had another 40K in it. Did you reuse or resurface the flywheel when the clutch was installed?

 

brand new fidanza 9.5lb flywheel as well.

 

It depends on the driver, some people don't realize they are riding the clutch when they are and it causes faster wear. I have seen some people use the clutch to hold themselves on a hill instead of using the brakes. Every driver is different I had a Centerforce DF clutch and Fidanza flywheel for over 40K in my car and no issues. I have even tracked the car several times.

 

My stock clutch is still strong at 96,000 miles with about 600 or so autox runs on the car. I would be very concerned at a clutch showing signs of slipping as early as you are saying.

When you say it feels like it is going, what are the symptoms? Slipping?

There are a lot of them, and everyone is different, as is someone's perception.

 

You should get around 80-100k out of a stock clutch before you need to replace it (unless of course you drive it like a maniac, or have a lot of aftermarket performance parts on it). I've got 106k on mine (I'm pretty heavy on the throttle, and have intake/headers/exhaust), and just recently noticed mine slipping.

Basically, Toyota engineered it to last 80-100k. Driving it rough and adding performance parts put more stress on the clutch and flywheel (among other engine components)...decreasing their useful life, so once it goes match up your HP and torque with a clutch that can handle it.

 

It all depends on how its driven, what mods, and how much power. I tracked mine all the time and noted clutch chatter and a slip at 25 k.

i would think an aftermarket clutch that would hold that much power would last a little longer than 30k miles but like everyone else said it depends on driving habits, stylet etc. some drivers can go through a clutch in 10k miles some can go 150k miles just depends.

 

My clutch in my other car went out at 60K to give you an idea.
