SCION Pure Pricing
Ok, I've read about several people's experience with their SCION dealers, the "Pure Pricing", and doc fees. I decided to write about my 2 cents worth on the subject of getting a SCION for the best price in my blog. Let me know what you think...

Its interesting that you were able to find dealers selling under MSRP... I haven't been able to find any around here. But then I only looked in NY.
I started looking at XBs back in October of last year, and checked out 2 local dealers, Manassas VA and Kerns Toyota Scion in Winchester VA. They are about 40 miles apart.
Manassas had a document fee of around $300, while Kerns Scion had a fee of only $39. Though I do have to mention that Manassas Scion was offering some kind of coupon/incentive book worth $1400 or so, but I was made an offer on a leftover 2004 XB at Kerns that I could not refuse, so I never followed up on Manassas.
The Documentation fee is a way for the dealers to scam you out of more cash. They have been doing it for so long now that it has become a standard among them. They know how much it costs to process a car and if they are stupid enough to NOT include that into a car when they are making a deal then they should go out of business. I used to work at a dealership back in 1990 and at that time it was negotiable.
So, if you are looking for a deal on a Scion consider a leftover model and check out what dealers charge for document fees.

The other thing that becomes apparent as you go through the prodess is that the only restriction is on the customer haggling the price down. The dealers are still free to play all the games they want with junk fees, F&I desk schenanigans, etc.
Keep your head up and be sure to count your fingers after shaking hands!
I had no shannanigans whatsoever when I bought my car. The only thing they tried to sell me was GAP insurance and I wanted that.
They are actually NOT free to play games. They are not supposed to aggressively try and sell you BS add ons or come up with creative ways to jack up the price with erroneous fees. Toyota forbids this, if your dealer tried it then they are in the minority and you should report them.
It took me 1 HOUR to buy my car. I had the salesmans undivided attention and they played no games at all.
