anyone else notice how tc owners differ from xb and xa owner
i just bought my scion xb about a week ago , have been looking at them for some time and like them for the style and big inside , 4 doors and great gas milage , somthing only the scion xb offers in the scion family , i traded in my daily driver (2000 jeep cherokee) <pig on fuel) for the xb and love it ! this car is my daily driver to work and back . i own other vehicals including 2000 bmw z3 conv. and a 2004 rx8 .
well anyway , i found this board after i bought my xb , and one thing i have noticed for sure is how cocky the TC owners are and how they like to talk smak to xa and xb owners like they drive somthing that is so fast ...and i just wanted to say ... gimmie a break TC owners , i mean its a nice car but ... you guys need a reality check ...
understand that you bought a sporty looking , well built and reliable car for and un-matchable price , but your car (the TC shares the scion badge with the xa and xb and has another thing in common with those two cars ... )IT IS NOT A FAST CAR!!! wake up!!! and loose the attitude!!
ps. every time i spank some little chit driving an TC i will be sure to post on the xb and xa side , since i cannot relate to the TC dreamers

for some reason when i see a nice xb around i like going next to them and drive next to them...
no , what i am saying is ... alot of TC owners just think they own the ____ ...must have seen fast ans furious to many times ...
sorta like just the other day i had a girl pull into my shop with a new colbalt talking about tuner cars ( as if her car fit that catergory) i was like ... omg ... loose 100 or so pounds and your car will be faster ... trust me ...

I do know what you mean. I wouldn't pidgeonhole all tC owners, but the thing is, people who bought xAs and xB's for the most part were shopping for a practical, economical car and appreciate the special attributes of these cars and what makes them unique.
There isn't anything that makes the tC unique, except perhaps that it's an unusually good value, like the rest of the Scions.
I get the impression that most tC drivers would just assume buy an RSX or a Saturn ION or one of the other 6 or 7 sporty coupes that look very similar to the tC and have similar horsepower and features. They aren't into it because of it's JDM style (it has none it was designed for Americans specifically) They didn't buy it because it's practical (coupes are the least practical kind of car you can get) They bought 'em because they wanted a sporty coupe. A car that's neither here nor there. It's not a sports car and doesn't handle or accelerate like one and it's not a sedan or wagon and doesn't haul people and stuff like one.
It's a car for someone who would really like to have a sports car or a luxury car but either can't afford one or won't commit to one, so they get something that gives them a little taste of what its like. It's the nicest, most expensive Scion so far, so it's only natural that *some* tC owners might be competitve or look down on the little 1.5 powered runabouts.
It shouldn't bother you though. I hardly notice tC's or their owners on this board or on the road. It's just another plain vanilla coupe. May as well be another Cavalier on the road. I just roll right by and don't even see em. Pretty funny if people think they are pimps driving them. No more pimp than a beige Camry as far as I can see.

I got the tC because it was the best value and most features for the money I could find. And got the xB because it offered the most praticality for the money I could find. Bump the price of them up a couple grand and I might not have bought either one.
I guess there are tC owners that think that way, but in their defense there are a lot more civic and maxima owners that think that way too.
There's xB owners that have the same attitude cuz the stick posts a second faster than the auto in the 1/4 mile... That's one I don't get. If my destination is a 1/4 mile away, why would I bother to drive?
Some people just take competition to an unhealthy level...

I'd have to agree with all you guys. In my area (socal) it seems that the only tC drivers out there a just young guys or chicks. It doesn't have the whole "family thing" like the xbs and xa's give. The only tC's i have respect for are those in SE; because for the most part, tC's would become civics (in means of "riceness") if it wasn't for the higher end price. The price is probably the thing i am most glad about for the tc's, it keeps a lot of the people who would try to transform the tC into a guady, pointy body-kitt-ed out of the scene. Unfortunately, the tC drivers don't give a friendly look the xBs way when they see them. Nor would their drivers recognize ScionLife or ScionEvolution. i'm always getting asked by my friends at school, "why didn't you get the tC?" i simply say, "if i wanted a toyotaCelica i would of bought one." Just my .50
I hear ya, I ve seen some trash talk too. Oh well,,I love my xb. Its a riders smart and practical car.Its not meant to be fast, its economical, and looks hella sweet with the Fab, or Noblesse kit. When TC guys talk tas, i just go get my RX-7, and no mores said..

hmm well to add some thought to this "discussion"...
I'd say the primary reason the tC crowd differs from the xB/xA crowd is b/c the tC is a more "regular" type car.
Generally, I believe, xBs appeals to a niche market. Either the car has most, if not all, of the practical things you look for in a car OR, you simply bought it to be different from everyone else.
The xA is not far off from the xB in the those regards and thus draws roughly from the same market. The xB however, tends to attract more people who want to be "unique", different or trendy (cuz boxy is "in"). Whereas the reasons for buying an xA will be much more varied.
The tC however, is much much closer to the average car. Sure its got cool things.. and can be quite practical. But its market appeal is the nearly the same as every other sports coupe. The tC is also in some ways... a "wannabe" car. Now I don't mean this as a slight to tC owners, but here's how I see it. The tC is a car which costs very little but acts like a car which costs much more (hence a "wannabe"). It "is" but isn't quite a sports coupe. Naturally such a car will attract buyers.. who want a much nicer car... but can't quite afford one... but at least the tC looks like one (i.e. "wannabe" again). This isn't to say that there are tC buyers out there who love the tC for its value, practicality, style, etc... I am one of them, but potentially the tC will draw in the "wannabe" crowd.
drawing parallels to HS... It'd probably go something like this:
the xA/xB crowd would be a combination of the geeks, the freaks, the artsy, and the slackers (aka skaters, punks, etc).
the tC crowd would be nearly everyone else, the "cool" and popular (trend setters), and the hanger-ons (wannabes). We all admire the former, but look down upon the latter.
Anyhow, that just how I see it. Obviously this makes broad sweeping assumptions which ppl can easily shoot down. But I'm not making assumptions about individuals.. just my observations of trends. That said... it would be a big mistake to characterize anyone based on my above comments.
