Default sorry had to brag

about my new spanking tC!!! w00t! finally i can post in these forums with being a part of the club!!

black sand pearl
all stock, auto (parents need to drive occassionally)

i was unhappy about paying $1500 more for the toyota warranty and the debt cancellation agreement or something when i was signing papers.

went to the garage to pick up the car and the dealer tossed some dollars in the backseat and waved me goodbye. i drove several blocks to pepboys to pickup some rainx, and a cd holder. i noticed i was driving without myhead lights on.

man im such a noob, but a happy one..

whats this about the $1.5k more for "toyota warranty and the debt cancellation"????

I thought warranty comes with the car, and i have no idea what you mean by debt cancellation.

My guess is that he bought the Extended Warranty and GAP Insurance.

Sounds like a good guess. Is that it?

that sounds about right... but another $1500?? doesn't that kinda defeat the purpose of gap insurance? this was posted on an earlier thread too.

yeah they brought that $1000 for the 75,000 mile warranty and the $500 debt cancellation agreement on me the last min. they told me since the contract was on the 3/29/05 agreement and if i delayed i coudl be surcharged like $4000.. sounded very fishy to me.

my sister cosigned for me and when i went to the dealership i didnt know my sister had to come along. i had to go to nyc, (i live in jersey) take the bus, subway to meet her to get papers signed, brought ti back to dealership and by this time it was like 7pm and i was tired and i was extremely sick. (still am sick and im at work..)

anybody have more info about this? what is GAP insurance and is the extended warranty worth it? am i allowedt o cancel either at any point or is it going to be prorated?

imo, the extended warranty is not worth it.

1) In 6 years, if the car hasn't had problems, it probably won't for a long while (about 60,000 mile average)

2) It is not a forced induction engine, unless you supercharge it, I can kinda see why you would get the ext. warranty. Keep in mind, there are still many mr2 turbo's that had the turbocharged 3sgte engine, and if kept stock with good scheduled, maintenance, are still running strong @ 100,000+miles.

3) It's the camry engine, evolved from the 5sfe, which came from the 3sfe, which were used in the 88-2000 camry's, 86-99 celica's, and 91-95 mr2's. It is a strong, reliable engine if used normally.

What is the debt cancellation, still confused. But other than that, if you bought the warranty for peice of mind, then more power to you! Enjoy the tC!

yeah i was told it would be 18,xxx out the door. time came to sign contract it was like 20,xxx. they added like $1500 for extended warranty and that GAP insurance. my apr was high 10.5% with $3,000 down my monthyly payments come shy of $400 a month. with nj insurance im paying close to $900 a month to just have a car.

*sigh

i guess ill have to drive around everywhere to make myself feel better. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

how many years did you finance it for? NJ car insurance is no joke. i only pay $80/mo full coverage thru 21st century on my car.

great thing about toyota finance is you can pay more than the monthly payment to deduct from ur principal. and there is no penalty for paying it off earlier than the 60 months i financed it for.

whoa....i surely hope you do pay it off way sooner than 60 months. cuz you'll be paying over $23,500 for it. i got financed thru honda finance for 60 months and pay $420/mo. but i've been paying more than just the minimum so now it's down to like $275/mo.

mr2 turbo = 3sgte = usa, japan, euro
mr2 non-turbo = 5sfe in usa, australia, 3sge in japan, europe
very few 91 mr2 3sfe's though.
