Need help from other XB gen 1 owners...and an introduction
Hello all.
Let me introduce myself. My name is David. I am a VW enthusiast that has only driven VWs since high school (a very long time ago) up until three days ago when I purchase a Salsa red 2006 XB. As you can imagine, my VW friends are stunned and I have been told that in Wolfsburg, Germany they are taking my photo down off the VW owner's hall of fame wall.
Why did I go with a Scion over a VW? Versatility! The XB fit the bill for my needs. VW doesn't have anything that fits in this category. I also like the quirkiness of the XB. It's different (like VWs used to be). But so you all know, I haven't jumped ship completely. I still have three VWs at the moment, and don't ever plan on parting with my 63.
With that said, I am enjoying my XB. Right now my plans are small. I just ordered a center arm rest and will be purchasing floor mats. I have a few questions for the experts. Are the aftermarket carpeted floor mat sets any good? They are low in price ($50) for a set of five. Does anyone have these? They look very similar with the scion logo embroidered but have two additional letters at the end that look like Bb. Should I get these or just order a set from the dealer?
Hubcaps. I need some. Wheels will come later since these tires are brand new. does anyone have a nice set they want to sell or know of a good source for a full set that is reasonable?
Where is a good place to purchase scion parts besides the dealer? I want to replace my drive belts on my car. Should I choose the dealer or buy aftermarket? What's aftermarket quality like? Can anyone recommend a place online?
This is a big question. On day two of owning my XB I got pulled over and ticketed for window tint. The front windshield has a tint strip that the trooper said was too low. The trooper said they tint cannot be lower than the AS/1 line. MY car has no such number on the glass. Can anyone post a photo of their windshield that has a AS/1 line with a measuring tape showing how low it is from the top of the windshield? I would appreciate it.
That's all I can think of for now. I look forward to this community!

Welcome! The Scion and VW communities tend to get along fairly well. The xB turns heads for other VW hatchbacks, and vice versa.
My next car will probably be a VW hatchback just because its sporty looking and not too tunerish.
As for your questions: you may wanna post this on clubxb.com. Clubxb tends to have more of an audience than here on ScionLife.
