Default 2013 Scion FR-S | D-4S Technology Explained [Video]

The 2013 Scion FR-S is equipped with a Direct Injection 4 stroke gas engine. This engine is combined with the Subaru boxer engine for the first time in the world. The Scion FR-S D-4S engine utilizes 2 injectors per cylinder; one direct injector, and one port injector. The injectors provide fuel into both the combustion chamber and intake port depending on the engine speed. At lower engine speeds, both injectors are used. This approach ensures an even air/fuel mixture to stabilize combustion. At higher engine speeds, only the direct injector is used. This achieves an intake cooling affect by directing fuel into the combustion chamber. By doing this, it helps to reduce the potential for engine damaging detonation.

I wonder if it is livelier when cold? Just a thought. Cool and thanks for the info.
