Yesterday.. I was driving about 30mph and the car shut off. Like it just stalled out. CEL light came on, car would start back up.. But it would rev to 4000rpm then die back out. Had to get the car towed to a mechanic. ( I'm stationed in Pensacola fl, 1000 miles away from my own tools) he ran the code and said the "throttle actuator control was stuck closed" any one know how much this is gonna be? Is it an every day part? I'm just worried.. Has ANYONE ever had this problem ?!

My guess is it means you have aproblem with the throttle body.if it isn't fixable, it looks like it is a 697 dollar part from TRD sparks. might be cheaper used ones out there that you can get.

 

open the hood, have someone listen by the right side of the engine, turn the key on, but dont start the car and hit the gas a few times.. you can hear the throttle motor with the engine off. this is a good test to find out if its working or not.
