Need Help - Fog Lamps
Bought a used 2006 xB for my son. The bumper is stamped for fog lamps but has those inserts in the mounts to cover them. I took one off and noticed it's wired for fog lamps. The harness just behind the insert is fog lamp ready. Can I just buy the OEM fog lamps and install them or is it not really wired for them even though the harness is there ready for plug in.
I noticed there is no "setting" on the headlight switch in the vehicle for anything other than running lights and headlights.
So, if buy the lamps, mount them and plug them in, what are the chances they won't work because the harness is disabled?
Thanks,
Ronnie

If you buy the kit from like sparks Toyota the kit comes with a switch. The switch then goes into one of the knock out panels under the breadbox. The fog lights are wired and the plug in for the switch is tucked in behind the breadbox in the center. Also you need a relay that goes into the fuze box under the steering wheel. It's a tight space to plug into but do able.
Not long after I first got my xB (2005) I put in aftermarket fogs, recently the sealing of those fogs finally started to fail, and I needed replacements. I found these: http://www.carid.com/2004-scion-xb-h...ts-262124.html
They have versions with yellow, clear or smoke lenses, the price is good, as is the quality.
These lamps are cheaper than OEM, and appear as well made. They come with bulbs, switch, and mounting hardware, but without relay. (The relay P/N 90080-87010 or any reasonable direct substitute is available fairly cheap, shop around.)
Your xB has complete wiring already installed. Getting the relay installed is a challenge, and would be much easier if you were a double-jointed midget, but can be done with patience.
Here are the official Scion installation instructions...

There are easier ways to do this if you are familiar with the xB dash, but having the official instructions on hand can still help.
