I found out that the motor really comes to life between 4k and 7500 rpm! That's when you really get your power when accelerating and also the best sound out of the boxer motor! I also just put on a light weight crank pulley by Perrin, and really like the results! Smoother and quicker revving on the motor, and little bit of torque increase!

This link has a list of all issues people noticed:
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11587

Out of those, I'm experiencing 3:
1) Transmission/clutch noise during engine braking (http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8344)
2) Chirping noise during idling (http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9836)
3) Window squeaking noise (http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...hlight=problem)

I hear (1) is normal. Toyota/Subaru say (2) is normal, but some people are unhappy with the noise. I think (3) can be solved by applying lubrication on the rubber, which I didn't have time to do yet.

Yeah I noticed that too! The pulley seem to help it below 4k any?

Not a whole lot, you feel a little difference. It revs quicker and more freely. But I think I'll notice it more once I get my Greddy air intake and Evo 3 exhaust on it next month. The motor winds up noticeably faster with it though!

I watched a video clip on the turbo kit that accelerated performance put on the brz, and from the sound of it, they still weren't able to get much more out of the motor before 3500-4k rpm. I wonder what could be done to increase performance in earlier rpm?

^^ i think it's something to do with the direct injection system. I'm wondering also if a software update would fix that. Thinking that Toyota might have that "dip" because of emissions, no joke, think about it. I bet emissions go up when that dip is removed. First year production is when the EPA evaluates a vehicle for approval. Watch the 2nd year have that disappear when EPA approval isn't needed anymore. I bet it happens without any explanation.

Isn't it funny how Toyota owns 16ish% of Subaru? Lol.
