Default A DEER killed my box

Last night on 694 I encountered a suicidal deer. This thing was easily 200 plus pounds. When I hit him it actually spun me around in the middle of the freeway. Its a good thing the box is light, I was able to push it onto the shoulder. All this after I had my custom exhaust done on tuesday and got my 17x7 motegis on wednesday. By the way the wheels are fine and may be for sale. The are on Falken ziex tires. PM me with offers if anyone is interested.

Very, very sorry to hear.
Any info on if it is fixable or...gulp, totalled.
Your the third guy in MN that has damaged his box. Hopefully this isn't a reoccuring theme.
Later,
Rich

I just heard back from my body guy. IT'S NOT TOTALLED! I'm looking at about 5 grand though, thank god for insurance. I will post pics of the damage which is all cosmetic. The only other damage is a snapped motor mount. I do have 1 question hopefully someone can answer. Why didnt my airbags go off? I was doing at least 70 and had no chance to slow down. Any info would be cool. Thanks for the sympahty but we'll be back. Bigger, faster stronger. Might even be a good excuse to add a body kit.

It was just before the exit to highway 61, I was headed east so I think it was trying to get back into the wildlife preserve. And unfortunatly he was dead because I would have relished in watching the trooper shoot him.

Mmmm... venison. I'm Glad to hear your car is going to be ok.
as far as your airbag, I don't know anything about them. The sensors usually are sensitive to a **g-force equal to that of a** 15mph crash into a brick wall
maybe the deer didn't interrupt your momentum enough, or the rotation of the car messed up the sensor. ( i think its directional)
or some combination of the two?

So sorry to hear about your box.

Did the deer hit your bumper? There are very specific sensors for the airbags, and if it hit the side of your car, or up on the hood, you may not have triggered a sensor.

I am glad to hear that your car is not totalled, and that you are okay.

Thanks. It did hit dead center but most of the damage was to the upper part of the bumper and hood so that could be the reason for no airbags. Thanks again and hopefully I can get er back on the road soon and actually get it to an event and show it off.

Default Air Bag

Air bags take a specific amount of g force to deploy. You must not of reached that point. Hope everything turns out OK for you

Be glad your airbags didn't deploy. Obviously they weren't needed and are quite expensive to replace...
