DIY Engine Block Heater 2nd gen xB
This is a DIY project. You assume all risk for properly completing this project.
Very easy project. Longest part was finding the hole and taking all the pics.
Start with your block heater. Here is my part # for a 2011 xB.
Here is what you get:
Remove air cleaner. I also removed the plastic cover off the top of engine.
In this pic there is a metal pointer at the base of the hole for the heater. It is on drivers side near back of engine:
The heater came with a little tube of grease, apply to the heater and slowly press into hole.
My finger is now pointing at the installed heater, clip towards rear of car.
Route power line away from moving parts. I zipped it to existing lines. Reinstall air cleaner and whatever else you took off.
I may route the plug line down to the fake vent in the bumper, Idk.
Ready for winter.
