Default Exhaust was stankin

I took the xb over to Lowes sat, and loaded her up! I had about 450+lb of dirt, and mulch and other stuff in it. It looked pretty good from the back, the wheels were starting to tuck up. Anyways, when I got home, which is a 2 mile drive, the exh smelled like burnt eggs and dog sh@#. I was driving pretty slow the whole way home.
I have smelled this before, but never really thought about it. What do you guys think

Generally the rotten egg smell is due to the catalytic converter. But I dont know why.

You may have overloaded your xB and dragged the catalytic converter on the ground and ruined it somehow. In the future if you are going to carry heavy loads in your xBox you should spread the weight out over entire vehicle.

I routinely carry very heavy loads in my '85 Tercel wagon. I'm careful to try and distribute the weight of the cargo out so it's not just over the rear axle. The solid rear axle on my Tercel probably handles heavy loads better an xB does. I've had 500 pounds of sandbags in the back of my Tercel, with minimal problems, as I folded the rear seats down, and spread the weight around.

It's unfortunate that it can potentially carry a lot of goods, but not a lot of weight. Be more careful next time.

THe car was not even close to the ground. I had the majority of the weight on the back seats, had them laid down, so that it was more to the center of the car. I have done this before with out any problems. I am not really that worried about it, just wondering. I know that the smell if from the cat either not cleaning the exhuast properly, not getting hot enough. Maybe it was because I just drove it for about 5 mins then shut it off. Oh, well.

Well, the rotten eggs smell might not have anything to do with the load you had. You might just have a bad catalytic converter from the factory. Your catalytic converters is covered by warranty by Toyota federal law for 10 years. Have it checked out.
