I was rear ended at a stop by a Civic that had no brakes. The air bags did not deploy and I am not sure if they were supposed to or not in this situation. Pics are in my gallery/profile if anyone wants a look. Be warned these are nighttime pics. The crazy thing about it is that I was/am more worried about my blitz axel back which I just put on two weeks ago than anything else.
Thank GOD the Papa John's driver had insurance. It wasnt even his car but the insurance was on point according to the officer on the scene so that's all that really matters. I didnt even hear brakes screech to be honest. The cop checked the Civic's brake fluid and there was virtually none.
I just felt an incredible BUMP!! I just got my xB in February...WHY???!!! My 1st ever new car and I get in a freakin accident...unbelievable!
Say a prayer for me. I hope for no frame damage.
I'm taking the xb to the dealer to assess its drivability before I resume my regular routine. There is a minor scrub on the rear, passenger tire.

BUT FEEL SOME COMFORT IN KNOWING THAT THE XB CAN TAKE QUITE A HIT FROM THE REAR. THAT IS MY WHOLE POINT OF MY POST.

thats more than 2000 dollars damage. just to replace the top piece of my bumper it was around 400 for the part+paint. think about how much that hatch is gonna cost.

Hope everything works out for you!

That's the second xB that I've seen take a good hit. These seem to do pretty well in crashes. Good to know.

that sucks!!
If you need a tailgate its only $380, figure out an extra $250 for paint.
pics are dark, but it dosn't look to bad.

Good luck!

Join the club of being hit within 2 months of owning your box. Just be strong, you can get through the pain, we all do.

Once it's out of the shop, you'll still enjoy it and you'll appreciate it more. Glad the driver had insurance and that you're okay (that's whats most important).

Thankfully, the guy who hit me only did cosmetic damage, so all I needed was a new bumper, I had mine back in 2 days.

Have the Body shop fill the wiper hole for you when they put on the rear hatch. Best time to get rid of the wiper. That is what i did when I got rear ended with less than 1000 miles on it.

Yeah, I got a NICE hit yesterday too, in traffic nonetheless.....i'm just sitting there doing 1mph and BAMM, I get hit by an old school Acura Legend...the box can take a hit that's for sure..theres just a minor scuff mark and that's it....dumbass drivers man...

The airbags should not have deployed - they're deployed based on deceleration, i.e. hitting something else when you're going forwards. A hit from the back is, essentially, the opposite.

Good to hear that it fared well in the accident and no one was injured.
