the optional allow wheels, without the little center cap weighed in at 17lbs

The standard steel wheels, without the plastic hubcap, weighed in at 17.5 lbs

Not much weight difference.

That's FAR too heavy for a 15" wheel. Guess I won't be buying a set then..

Which optional wheel?

Alloy wheels are often as heavy or heavier than the steel wheels, particularly the more elaborate ones. "Alloy" is no guarantee of light weight!

If you want truly light wheels, you have to spend more money and give up some style. Lightweight race wheel designs don't tend to have all that much bling.

I don't know about giving up style.. there's a few pretty nice looking wheels out there that don't weight a lot.

For 15s - Konig Heliums, Konig Holes, Enkei RP02-J, Motegi track_lite.

You're right about the cost though.. :(

rotas have a wide variety of styles and are in the 12 pound range for 15 inch wheels

I presume these weights are without tires?

Rotas are cheap and light but I haven't seen a Rota with an offset below +45.
Popular Scooby wheel and their offsets start at +48.
If anyone here know where I can get Rotas with +35 or less offset...let me know.
PLEASE!

Well! At least they're not heavier than stock steels... :D Too bad they're not much lighter.

At least for the nicer look, it doesn't add weight.

I like the 10-spoke for my xA. They "look" like they have less metal...

Keep in mind though, that though the alloys weigh a little less, the weight distribution is probably further out from the center of the wheel translating into greater rotational mass (read: worse performance).

FYI.. MR2 wheels from 2000-2002 will fit, look pretty sweet, and weigh in around 15lbs.
