The cold air intake runs out the driver side and sits over the tire right? With the k&n if you remove the second pipe and attach the filter it will be sticking into that hole on the side no? So can't i just get some flex plastic pipe from home depot and continue into the wheel well? That way you not only get cold air but dont have to worry about water. It will be kind of a guide to guide the air and you can even run it from the vent in the front.
Lemme know what u think.

should work.. but don't put the filter any lower than stock..
gains will be minimal, but the "trick" facter is there

Not a bad idea...but with a few issues. First, if you remove the second pipe and attach the filter to the first, there is not enough room to fit the filter on. It is too big to fit into hole. You would need to get a smaller K&N filter. Second, you would funnel the rain water or puddle water into your filter that way. Might be worth a try...kinda like a ram air.
With the standard install, the filter is 16 to 18 inches off the ground....thats a deep puddle and water would be inside your car. The filter also has a waterproof cap for any errant water that may make it there. I was thinking of drilling out a few of the honeycomb holes (at the bottom of the false vent) for better airflow, yet keep water down low and off of filter.

The piping from the front wouldnt actually connnect to the filter kind of just a guide that ends a bit before where the tube would go down or in this case the filter location.
As for the filter you can even run it so the filter itself is just on the other side of the wall. get some zipties, electrical tape, buffalo wings and a pepsi and ur done.
