Default TRD Suspension & Hotchkis Sway Bars

Is anyone running with the TRD Suspension (springs/struts) & Hotchkis Sway Bars?

I want to tighten up the rear end. But I don't want the suspension to be too "bouncy" because this is my daily driver...

Can someone please describe how this setup works for you?

What are your honest likes and dislikes?

I already have the TRD suspension ordered. I am either going to get the the Hotchkis Sway Bars (front and rear) or the rear TRD sway bar and use the saved money elsewhere on the car. The benifit of the TRD rear sway is that this setup is already tuned to work Synchronously together with the TRD Suspension. I have heard that the front factory sway is fairly tight.

My main concern is correcting the loosness of the rear during evasive maneuvering.

Who here has real experience?

As you already know, I have both the TRD struts and springs, along with the Hotchkis sway bars. This setup greatly improves handling, and I am extremely satisfied with it. The only complaint that I have is that the hotchkis strut bars rub against the urethane bushings that they come with when you go over speedbumps or other bumps. That sound can get annoying, but if your just cruising they are completely quiet. Besides that, I am completely satisfied, and would reccommend the setup to anyone who is considering it. You will notice a difference in cornering/overall handling. You will not be dissapointed.

Thanks for your replies.

Do the Hotchkis bushing come with a "nipple" to connect a greese gun to lub?

Is the sound comming from the front or rear end?

Yes, there is a nipple so you can connect a grease gun up to it, which is exactly what I did. Just remember to use a non Lithium based grease or it will eat away at the bushings. The sound is coming from both the front and the rear, but more at the rear. I'll probably do them again soon, to see if I just didnt put enough in the first 2 times.

What type of lube did you use? Maybe I should try something different.

Any good moly type grease works the best. We have seen a problem with synthetics. They seem to get watered down and run out of the bushings. In our shop we use a marine grade grease that we run on all of our show cars, etc.

The front bar is pretty hard to install. You have to drop the subframe down to get at the bar. Here is a link to the instructions.

I used moble 1 lube. Works great. No rubbing sound. Quiet as a mouse.

one of the draw back's of polyurethane busings is they are squeeky... but perform great...

its a trade off...

can always look out for hard rubber bushings... made of a denser rubber, but not hard like plastic...

Default Quote from ty6

This was just too important of information not to share, I hope you don't mind ty.

PM Quote from ty6 about the sqeaking sounds from this sways:

"You know at first I did, then I figured out the problem. The problem was that I had put the wrong brackets in the front and the back. Doh! The directions given to me by Hotchkis didn't specify. No Way One set of bracket were slotted, and by that I mean you could slide them back and forth within the bolts. The other set had just a straight hole, which wouldn't allow any movement when bolted all the way down. I had put the slotted brackets in the front, so when I would hit a bump or dip, the rocking motion would knock the brackets out of place, and would in turn make them loose. Finger Tap So, I switched the bracket from the front to back, and vice versa. I drove around on them that way for about 3-4 days, then went back in and made sure they were tight, and now they are great!!! I haven't had any problems. Relief Also, I highly recommend them. The install was kind of a pain. Well, at least for the front. The back was simple.

P.S. MAKE SURE TO GREASE THE BUSHINGS VERY WELL!!!

Hope this helps,
Ty"
