Ultrabrightlights.com has 6k HID's for $380. Good deal?
Im a newbie when it comes to this kind of thing. Is $380 good for 6k HID's??reason i want 6k instead of 8k or 10k is cause i dont really want that super blue color. just some blue is fine which is what 6k is.
That's really not a great deal. The sponsored sales section had them going for $300 a set. Other places on the net will have them cheaper as well.
If you need help finding them, let me know. Also 6K is probably whiter than you think.

Also, the number in Kelvin is NOT a brightness factor,
it's a frequency in the color spectrum. So 8k is NOT
necessarily brighter then 6k. They could be exactly the
same brightness, just slightly different shades of white.

Because Silverstars are nothing in comparison to a true HID setup. I have been next to people with HID conversion kits in the stock headlamps and mine will wash theirs out like they're not even on.

I'm not sure of all the technical stuff.....but i think these are real HID bulbs and ballasts....but for them to be true HID's, you need the projector headlamp assembly.....to buy everything you need, it's gonna cost $$$$$$!!!! if i'm wrong on this, I'm sure LoneyRaven will be able to elaborate.....he's one smart cookie!!!!
The HID bulbs and ballasts are HID. HIDs ignite the mixture of gases in the bulb in an arc instead of running current through a filament. HID has different lighting properties than halogen. A lot of people throw in words like xenon, HID, 6000K, plasma just for marketing purposes. If it has a filament, it's not HID. HID requires a ballast.
One of the most important things of an HID setup is the projector or reflector. You *NEED* an HID projector to properly distribute the light. The optics of a halogen projector or reflector don't cut it because the light source is different. While a high quality HID conversion kit might have a decent cutoff with minimal glare, it won't put the light on the road where you need it. It may "look brighter", but if you spend the extra money to do it right (what, an extra $200-300 dollars on the HID optics), you will see so much farther down the road and you'll have so much peripheral vision, it's incomparable.
If you live in the DC area, I'll give you a ride in my car at night... I was very comfortable with the stock halogens. When I first got the car, I thought they had MORE than ample lighting, but now I can't go back. I know it sounds preachy or lecturey, but it's something you have to experience for yourself... sorta like getting in an F1 car and then jumping back in your Scion.

i would also recommend doing projectors instead of buying a kit. but if you must buy a kit, buy it from this guy,
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WDVW
you get real denso ballasts that uses D2S plugs and real philip bulbs instead of ____ty asian made bulbs and ballasts that uses different plugs. this kit also allow you the room to retrofit later on, as you'll only need to buy the projectors. with other kit, the ballasts use a stupid plug for separate +12v and ground instead of the standard D2S plug.
