Default possible clutch pedal issue (new clutch)

I just installed a competition clutch stage 3 clutch (going Turbo in the next few days) and have a possible issue. The new clutch disengages mid pedal (pushing down) travel and re-engages 1/3 the way up from the floor. now the problem is that there is no stiffness above the clutch disengagement point.

clutch is not slipping or anything, the sponginess of the top half of travel is my only issue.

any ideas?
