Default TRD Supercharger Sticky

To eliminate all of the supercharger questions, I have made a sticky...

What type of supercharger is it? - Centrifugal, with a maintenance free librication system.

How much wheel/flywheel horsepower does it make? - We dont know yet.

How much will it cost? - We dont know yet.

When will it be released? - We dont know yet.

What type of fuel/octane level will it require? - We dont know yet. (But we highly suspect premium as do all other TRD superchargers.)

How much boost will it run? - We dont know yet.

Will it be warrentied? - If installed at a toyota/Scion dealer, it will come with a 5 year/60,000 mile warrenty from TRD.

Can I use a short ram?CAI with the kit? - We dont know yet.

Will it come with an intercooler? - We dont know yet.

Will the ECU need to be reflashed? - We dont know yet.

Will new fuel injectors come with the kit? - We dont know yet.

Will stage kits be offered? - We dont know yet.

If I have missed any other common questions, please let me know and I'll add it to the list. For anyone who is reading this and has heard otherwise, you should know that everything else are just conjectures.

no problem, I just started my spring break yesterday, and figured I had some spare time now that I'm not cramming for any exams. hopefully this can be used as a sticky and answer a lot of newbie questions about the supercharger system.

I believe that the warranty is not a standalone 5 yr/60kmi. It attaches to the existing powertrain warranty, so its 5yr/60k less how far along you are. Though I may be mistaken.

Well I went to the trdsparks web page, and found this....

The system is covered by a TRD 5 year/60,000 mile warranty when installed by a Scion dealer and is emissions legal in all 50 states.

So either one of us could be right.

Taek, I feel for you. I only have a week off, and I have to use all that time studying for my two leftover midterms.

It is gonna have a stand alone 5 yr/60k warranty. It is different than the Scion powertrain warranty. What you have is a warrantied part and anything on the motor thats effected by that part will be covered under your Scion warranty. Warranty stuff is kind of a gray area for most people...I am a salesperson for Scion and it can even be confusing for me sometimes!!

did this jump out at anyone else? Cause 6 psi boosting 250 whp... is it me or does that previous post about the TRD SC sound more realistic...

just fyi, ive read the trd installation manual for the 1.8 matrix sc, and they for REAL do NOT want you to use a cia. no mention of any other parts, but they say the stock airbox has crutial instruments to proper calculate to air-fuel ratio. they say that they will void your warranty and everything. screw that, most cia have plug in spots for the factory sensors, maf or whtever the tc uses. it doesnt matter for us any ways, none of the cia made will fit the sc bc of different piping i think. short ram would be better. the matrix sc is the roots blower, so thats prob why a cia will still work. just fyi
