Hey,

I've been debating on whether I should get the K&N Typhoon CAI or the Injen SRI. I live in NYC and sometimes it can get pretty wet on the roads. My main concern with the K&N is how low it hangs by the lower grill? I like the Injen one but it is almost in the exact same location as the stock filter. Would gains be less than K&N because it is sucking in hot air from the engine? Thanks in advance for any info.

Gains tend to be less w/ short ram versus cold air. But really its up to you whether you want cold air or short ram. I prefer short ram only because then i wont have to worry about it when it rains & there are water puddles i have to drive through.

Just to let you know, the K&N CAI is not CARB legal. I'm sure it's legal in NYC, but not here in California. I have a K&N CAI on my xA however, and I don't have any problems with it.

It comes with the sock cover to prevent water from splashing into it, but of course it doesn't prevent anything when your car is summerged into water for any longer than a second I would say. The filter is however in a pretty enclosed area, so are only a few small holes that water can actually get into there. The filter sits in front of your driver side wheel well.

When it pures here in California, I am still able to drive through puddles and not have a problem.

Hope that helps.

it'd have to be a pretty deep puddle... but then again... we DO have them here... especially in queens

you won't have to worry about wet conditions... only if you are forced to go into really deep puddles...

even so i'd lean towards the K&N
