Automatic downshift into first rough
Live in western NC where there are steep driveways and roadways. When turning onto a side street that has a fairly steep incline. The car downshifts into second and it's fine. It continues up the hill in second at a slow speed with no problem. However if I let up on the gas a bit, it will downshift into first and a few times it was a rough downshift. The car is a 2008 xB with under 35,000 miles. Typical?

There is a difference between rough and high rpm. Typically when you shift down to first it'll slow down very rapidly until you hit about 6mph. What does it feel like and when do you downshift to 1st (what mph)?

Sorry to be late. I meant I was going up an incline. The car was in second and IT downshifted to first and was very rough. Can really feel it, not the rpm but it going into first. For example if you were going up a steep incline at roughly 15 mph and the speed starts to drop until it goes into first - it is not smooth. This is the only thing that I have noticed and do not have a lot of experience with automatics.
