View Full Version : TRD Springs or TEIN H-TECH???
sciontc313 04-12-2005, 04:45 PM :eyebrow: hey guys what do you think is the best for the tC, TRD Springs or TEIN H-TECH Springs cuz i planning to buy it next week and i need some comments or suggestions who have this kind of springs..... thank you! :) i want to save money and i want to drop it a lil bit and not much..... i heard that TRD springs are 1" lowered and TEIN H-TECH??
the thing I know and what I consider is...
TRD - lower 1.2"
Tein - Lower 2"
So...your choice!
I would probably go with TRD...since i heard it doesnt drop that much lower! Hate to bump my head on the floor again
IT HURTS
tckurt 04-12-2005, 11:22 PM yea it just depends on how low you want to go from what I hear trd is close to stock as far as comfortability and tein h-tech arent too far behind... I would suggest getting the hotchkis sway bars with either theses as well and you could also get the stage 1 kit hotchkis makes for 375 from hopupracing.com.
GT4Dreams 04-12-2005, 11:35 PM Don't forget that if you go to radical, you will have to get new struts, if not, the ride WILL get worse. Thought about eibach pro-kits?
Fahrenheit 04-13-2005, 12:23 AM Personally, I plan on buying the TRD suspsension for one key reason: the warranty. You have to remember that there could be far more cost than the original purchase and installation - TRD seems to be a more responsible choice. Plus, it's not like the TRD kit is lacking in performance; the automotive press seems to love it.
sciontc313 04-13-2005, 02:36 AM well i know the S-TECH will drop to 2" but the one i wanna know is the H-TECH??
sciontc313 04-13-2005, 02:40 AM here some pixs of the H-TECH..... maybe ill go with this... :eyebrow:

sciontc313 04-13-2005, 02:45 AM the H-TECH WILL DROP THE FRONT FROM 1.9" THEN THE REAR WILL DROP TO 1.5"I THINK THAT IS NOT BAD....I FOUND IT IN TEIN.COM
kAhAkAi 04-14-2005, 07:00 AM i had that questoin to but i decided on TRD for a couple reasons..but my main one was the TRDs are supposed to work well with the stock struts, so if you dont plan on changing struts then go TRD..the H-techs will wear out your struts within the matter of 6 - 7 months; i'm sure whatever choice you go with..either way you'll be happy =D
daewonder 04-14-2005, 08:05 AM i'd go with the H-Techs. i've seen pics and the drop is very nice and a lot more noticeable than the TRDs. it's not low enough to NEED aftermarket struts right away but it MIGHT wear your stock struts out a little faster than the TRDs.
maximustC 04-14-2005, 04:30 PM Yea, I really hate the stock suspension on my tC. I really like the idea that TRD has to warranty but I definitely want something thats going give me the stiff ride I want and not the boat on water feel that my car has now. I really dont know if the TRD springs are going to do that for me. TEIN is always good and I havent heard anything bad about TEIN parts, but I just want to know what other way I should go. Lowering i not really my main concern although its always a good thing. What other 'smart' options are there?
kwc5811 04-14-2005, 07:24 PM I really like my Tein H-Techs. I like the look alot better than the TRD springs and I don't think the drop is to radical for the struts. I can see problems with the S-Techs but no the H-Techs. The cornering is much improved with these springs. I have some pics on my install How-to post here:

English 04-14-2005, 07:31 PM what about the Hotchkis springs? I have these sitting in my room now awaiting installation and they give a small drop too, with about a 16% increase in stiffness, trdsparks.com has a special on these right now like, $153 free shipping check it out www.trdsparks.com
tc_is_for_turbo_charged 04-17-2005, 12:51 AM I got the TRD setup from mcgeorge's with springs, struts, shocks and rear sway.
If you are up for a performance mod then this is it. It is not a dramatic drop but it handles MUCH better. The car is much tighter. Even with the crappy stock potenzas these work very well.
I had the springs, shocks, and struts installed at the same time and was impressed with those. Then a week later I crawled underneath and installed the sway. The springs had dropped a little more, a welcome surprise and the rear sway made it handle even nicer.
The TRD kit was 480 shipped from mcgeorge's and 200 for install at a local shop. Great deal!!!

Nakioki 04-24-2005, 11:24 PM err yeah.. coil overs... im working on it.... im cheap :lalala:
A little off topic, but is there anyone out there making camber kits to accomodate 2+ in. drops? The only thing holding me back from getting some S-Techs is camber I don't wanna beat my tires up and have to replace them in a month or 2. I know this is a little OT sorry.
Nakioki 04-25-2005, 12:25 AM hmm havent heard n e ... maybe.. im not sure.. thats one of the things i was worried when i was plannin to get s-tech... is the freakin camber kit. thats y i moved to h-tech for a while :silly:
