Hi,
I am buying a Scion xB this summer in August (my 16th B-day), and am trying to find out everything I can about the xB, IT ROCKS. I am wanting to get a Camo Green xB with the TRD 5-spoke 18" wheels with Pirelli P Zero Tires and TRD Lowering Springs, with alot of others stuff. But I was wondering if anyone has this TRD set?? If so, how do the tires and springs handle in snow? I live in Northwest Arkansas ( with LOTS hills  ) and can get some nice snow fall. Or would you guys reccomend getting the S 14-Spoke Alloy Wheel with stock tires :?:
Nathan :)
P.S. Is the Interior Lighting worth it?

That combo dosen't work good at all in the snow. My Scion guy Chris had them on the demo xB at the dealer. When it snowed he couldn't even drive the damn thing because, it got stuck in the Scion dealerships parking lot in only a few inches of snow. He put the factory alloys back on the car until the weather gets better here in NY.

Hey Nathan first off, welcome to the forums.
Secondly, it would be easier to post a message if you left the text its normal size. (this is disturbing to the eye)

Ok I say keep the stock tires laying around and mount some snow tires on em for the winters.... I also hear the Nitto neo Gens are a year round tire possibly giving a better bite in the snow but I would seriously doubt it..

The only advise i can give is that if you want to drive in the snow get some fat sow tires for your stock wheels and some chains then it might work. Yeah...

1. No, the interior lighting is not worth it. You can do it aftermarket in an hour or less for about $20.
2. 18s and lowering springs don't work outside of california, where they never have snow... ever.
3. To the kid who's going to get spinners, underlighting, and school bus yellow: you're not going to be 17 forever; and most of those modifications are played out and ridiculously expensive.

Hey... the way I put it is that you only live once and plus I like to do things that people never have done or will not want to do. I understand though what you mean by only being young for a while but hey... live a lil' when your young. And about the pricing, I am not getting all that in one shot. It will gradually be added on there as the years go on.

Hey Blingin Lava,
Cool to know someone elese wants to get the xB as their first car. I was part of the MINI dissusion group b/c my aunt had one, but they were a bit hostile, the sec they found out I was 16 they had no respect. Anyway, get what u want to get on your xB, I am 16 and my scion will be pushing my limit.. $20,000. So if u have the money go for it. .

Hey I asked my dealer and if you go with the 18 inch trd wheels and tires you do get your origanal wheels and tires with it. So you would have a extra pair for the winter no matter what. Make sure you ask your sales person and it they say no there hoseing you. If they give you trouble just tell them the trd wheels are after market and you want the stock wheels. See what they say but it worked for me.

seriously, ditch the lighting option (too expensive anyway from scion, get it from randy/randode) and use that money on a set of dedicated winter tires and wheels, you can get a good set for around $400. that way you don't risk damaging the finish of your trd wheels and you get the added security of dedicated winter shoes.

I live in Boston and have owned many cars with aftermarket wheels, you always need a set of stockers for the winter because the snow and salt ill really tear your wheels up and have them looking like shyt by the time spring rolls around..
I have my stockers which I will be rolling on for another month or two and then I am going to order some 18's for the summer, moving to Orlando mid-summer so I won't ever have to deal with this new england weather again. WOO HOO!!
Anyway good luck with your ride....
p.s. In regards to the yellow bus all I can say it that when I was younger I wanted one of those special edition Beretta GTZ cars in the bright yellow, I did not end up getting it and about 2 years later I thought back and almost kicked myself in the ___ for wanting that color :)
Either way whatever floats your boat and let us see pics when it is all done.

I am planning on keeping the stock wheels for winter, and maybe getting a set of studded snows for nasty winters. You may have to look around for a tire place to sell you just 2 studded snows, they will try to sell you four.
I really don't think a 1.5" drop would hurt winter driving much. But yeah, 18"-ers would be el-sucko in the snow...

"it's already been done" who cares? you sound like goons, i have thundercloud, and thats been done before too.
maybe i just don't get it, why can't he have his scion the way he wants it. if he wants to lift it and put 13" reverse triple gold daytons and chop the top... So Be It!
I would say to the original topic, keep your stock rims and tires for the winter, the TRD drop shouldn't hurt you too much. Also realize that the xB gets no traction even in perfect conditions, so snow on wide, low profile 18's it would be useless.
