Still haven't got the stereo installed (components are still on backorder), but I finally got the wheels, spoiler and lowering springs put on last Friday.

I'm probably going to tint the front windows to match the factory tint. Got a few more ideas running around in my head, but those will have to wait till the winter.

Please excuse the neighborhood in the background... I got the pics quick Friday afternoon before the rains came, and they haven't stopped yet.

Comments, opinions, suggestions welcomed.

Looks good!!!

What brand and size???

I just got my BOP xB and I'm having trouble deciding on a rim style. Going with 17"s and a 205-45 tire.

Thanks for posting!!!

Kazera KZ-U 18x7 with 215/35s. Those, with the TRD springs DRASTICALLY improved the ride over stock. I thought it would be rougher with no sidewall, but what little I've driven it since getting them installed has been great.

Hey when the rain stops, you might want to cut your grass.

Hey when the rain stops, you might want to cut your grass.

I actually managed to squeeze that in Saturday before the rain started. I was letting it grow up to fill in some low spots... almost waited too long. :)

I like it!
Now that I have owned my box for almost a week, I have already installed a strut brace, and removed the rear emblems. Now I find myself looking for wheels and springs. For springs, I am looking to lower only a little, but more importantly improve the slightly choppy ride:)

Big wheels? They're only 18's! Most cars come stock with 18's now-a-days. It's not like they're 28's or something!

"looks around for a car that comes stock with 18s..... and still gets 40 mpg"

:nails:

I don't know what the scion dealer told you, but 18's won't make you go faster... however, they do a good job of getting theives' attention.

Who said anything about 18's making you go faster or getting good mpg? :loser:

I just said a lot of cars come stock with 18's. I still get good mpg with my 18's anyway. Besides I'm not really worried about thieves nor what gas costs anyway.

Thx for all the comments guys. I'm waiting for the foilage to really come in, then I have a spot around here that I'm going to shoot some pics. Should look pretty cool.

My big problem in the past with "big wheels" was price. Now that 18s are pretty common place the prices are down enough normal working guys can afford them without having to starve for weeks on end.

I really like your wheels and the color (my choice), and decided that I would like to add that too. I've been trying to look around and price them. The scion website lists alloy wheels @ $665~ Is there that much of a difference if I purchased them and had them put on separately?

The wheels are from Tire Rack. I ordered them through the dealership to get the cost added to financing. I had to pay the dealer markup (~$400), but I wouldn't have been able to afford them otherwise.

I hoped to be the only one with these wheels for a while... but at least I'll always be the "first" to have them on a box.

I want new wheels but do not want to spend the extra money for tires. Does it make sense to use my old "new" 15" tires and just put on new rims? Does anyone have a set of 15" rims for sale?

Thanks

Wait, Scion05BOPxB - and everyone else - before you go! I need your feedback on this then:
Did you have to mod the wheel wells in any way for your wheels to fit or when you added the lowering springs?

Wondering because:

I had my rims done by the dealer as well, 18" RS LTD T&W, and today I ran in to a bit of a problem: I wanted to get the tires rotated and aligned. Got it done (rotated front to back and aligned) and the driver’s side rear wheel (the old front wheel) rubs the back wheel well. But this was never a problem before.

The fact that my old front wheel is ever so slightly bent is beside the point I am trying to make here...the 18's are too wide for the rear wheel wells. There is barely enough space between this hole that has a bit if a protruding rim (in the lower part of the wheel well closer to the back passenger door) and my wheel rim for a piece of paper to fit in between. I know this greatly depends on the width of the wheel - but since these were offered and installed by Toyota, I didn't even think they'd offer something that was this bad of a fit.

I had the tires rotated back for now, but now have to figure out what to do. The wheel is bent so slightly that if it weren't such a tight fit it wouldn't have even been an issue – matter of fact, at this marginal level, it is more like a fact of life for wheels more than a truly bent wheel. The rule of thumb is that there should be about 1 cm of space between any part of the wheel and any part of the car – and this is clearly not the case here.

At this point, I know I am more prone to blowouts. :nails: Especially when I get it lowered! So should I have the wheel wells cut back? The rim around that hole removed? I am just wondering, because it seems like many on scionlife have gotten these larger wheels, if any of you have encountered this problem what did you about it? Please help!

The dealer installed mine, so you know they didn't mod anything for them to fit. As for the 18s, I've noticed no rubbing, even in wheel lock turns on the front, and I've looked under the back and there is plenty of room.

Bad offset on your wheels perhaps? I'm not sure what the offset is on mine. I need to find that out.
