Hey guys, ever since I saw the xB I was in love. I've never owned anything other than a Honda, except for a beater Jetta. I've also always hated SUVs and large vehicles, but the xB doesn't seem to be large at all. I drive a 10-11 second CRX, so the xB has no comparison in speed. How is the ride? Handling? Does it have decent pickup? The funny part is, the XB weighs 2300lb and has 108hp. Same as a stock CRX ;) Aerodynamics come into play though.
I've been heavily modding Hondas for years. I just want to get out of the game a little and relax in something nice. The xB seems perfec,t especially with my budget. I'm only 20 and a college student.
If you could share your experience, i'd greatly appreciate it. I know this is a Scion forum, so replies will be somewhat biased, but if you can be completely honest, that would be great. Any issues with the xB? I'm trying to read up on it as much as I can.
Any and all help/info would be very much appreciated.
Thanks!

Youll have to excuse our shortness, see, its been a hot topic here lately, all the newbies joining our family, and the first ? out of their mouths is ..... "should i buy a Scion?" followed by the ever popular .... " What mods should i do?" .... then comes the crowd favorite ... " i know it only has 108HP, but what can i do to make it go faster?"
In a nut shell, if you ask anyone here, they all love their Scions. What you like and what you want is really up to you. Dont take it personal, but just scroll down, or even back a couple of pages and youll see my point, the basic questions are starting to be a regular occurance.

just remember that you are coming from a car that has a lot of power so don't expect too much or you will be dissappointed, but yes test drive and see what happens. It has way more room then a CRX I can tell you that. Hope to see a pic of your new ride soon. :D

Hi,
You and me have alot in common, I just joined the forms. And also love the xb. IT IS THE BEST!! I am 15 and took a test drive about a week ago, and it handles very well, seeing that it is a box. When I drove it I felt high off the groups, SUVish, but when I got out I was taller than the car!! I personally hate large cars (I cant even handle my moms Nissan Quest) I am soo excited to get the xB, and I also am in search for EVERYTHING there is to know about the car. The dealership was suprised how much I knew about the car. Being in Northwest Arkansas they were suprised I could even pronounce "SCION™". In conclusion I think anyone can fall in love with the xB, even my mom, (who called it a MINI Milk Truck).
U will love it
Nathan (Take a test drive, if they let a 15yr old test it you will have no probem, except for a line!! :D )

Maybe I was to quick before ...... Sorry ! I was holding out for the new Chevy Equinox to arrive and we decided to go to the Harrisburg Auto Show, as soon as we walked in the door we seen the XB and the XA, we had to see what it was .... The design is different, however I jumped in the drivers seat and moved the seat back and I was thrilled, I had more than enough leg room, I am 6'3", my wife jumped in the passenger sie, she is 6' .... More than enough room ! We asked the kids (2) to get in the back seat and they liked the space .... We rotated and we sat in the back seat, I had more than enough room, great roomy feeling ! I was impressed ... Options that come standard are very nice, A/C, Power Windows, Door Locks, CD Player, Tinted Glass, Amazing Paint Color and so forth - we talked to a young Scion Lady and she was very friendly, spoke to us for a long time and gave us respect ... I am becoming more impressed, she mentioned that there is a special limited production available, might be tough to get, but well worth it if you can get it ... Well, I jumped on my cell phone and found a local dealer ( Hanover Toyota ), as soon as we left the show we drove to the dealer, they had 1 demo on the lot, Shawn who is our Scion Salesman, was great, no pressure, explained everything, no sugar coating and no pressure to buy, he allowed us to take it out as long as we liked, we took a short drive, found a nice hill and cranked the A/C on high, it had amazing power for the motor, great gas mileage ... I was sold .... Long story short, I placed a cash deposit on the RS1 and am awaiting this neat, cool, urban vehicle !
I drive large SUV's and was used to enough space, the XB has the space, the options and the ability to customize it your way ! Must be a mid-life thing as I just turned 40 ..... I plan on tricking it out a little and add some cool gadgets and take it to a few shows !
I really am impressed with Scion and my Dealer and Salesman - To me, it is a breath of fresh air ..... I know my dealer is a first class operation, hope you find the same in NY ....
Good Luck and I feel when you drive it for awhile, you will enjoy it !

I too, fell in love with the xB after seeing it at the car show....
The only thing that I don't like is the lack of trunk space... But hey.. I'm 23.. not married and don't have any kids.... And there ain't nothing but speakers and some groceries going in the back.. and there's plenty of room for those...
Just test drive it... I finally did last week.. and I'm waiting to get my new job and a few paychecks and I'll be signing papers att he dealer....

I have a friend who owns a CRX w/ a gizzer motor in it (its wicked fast), and an EVO Lancer. He loves my xB and wants to sell the CRX now! Of course his boss, er wife, doesn't want to have an additional car payment in the house. And she has an Element!

Well its not the same but I sold my 14 second Galant vr4 which was 4 doors but, it was quick and AWD and now we are getting the xB RS 1.0, which is slow but has tons of room and is alot more safe then my old car. I think I have grown out of the speed racer and now I wanna have a cruiser that I can pimp out.

Should known I'd bump into you here ;) Hahaha. I'm gonig to test drive it this weekend. Sorry about the n00b question, I'm the same way to n00bs on other Forums :P
The ONLY thing I don't like about the xB is the damn cluster, but I wouldn't be speeding in it, so I'd get used to it.

yeh i'm thinking about getting one also. my 88 hatch definately doesn't run 11-12's but w/the b16 it gets up and goes quite nicely...
I am still going to keep my Civic b/c it's my first car and it's got way too much money in it I just don't have the funds to completely paint it and do the exterior. I may get a xB this summer and I may not be able to, but I loved them ever since I saw it at Nopi 2 years ago.

My impression of the xB has been so-so. Basically, it is an economy car with extra style and a good deal of interior space.
My test drive was somewhat disapointing, the clutch felt too ambiguous and the engine is just adequate.
The problem is that for about the price of an xB, the Mazda 3i which I test drove felt infinitely better (it is a driver's car). The M3 2.3 S at 1.5k more is simply amazing. If you are accustomed to any kind of performance vehicle the xB can be a let down simly because it is an econo car with style.
My impression of the scion was that it was a Toyota echo with 400 lbs of extra weight, more headroom, and $4,000 dollars worth of options (including upgraded suspension ie wheel base, larger body, ac, etc...). I simply did not "buy into scion" when I test drove it. You are buying an image when you compare it to a fully loaded Echo, which is cheaper and much more peppy.
Test drive, compare, and see what you feel.

my next car needs to have a lot of room b/c moving in and out of dorms w/a lil civic is a two to three trip process ( i had my own dorm this year)
the element has got more go, but more $$ and the outside to me would take immediate attention
