This whole situation has gone from bad to worse and so I have come here to vent my frustrations and seek advice.

I purchased my Scion tC 3 weeks ago now from a dealer in North Houston Texas called Fred Haas Toyota Country. At the time I purchased the XM Radio antenna as an extra. I returned a week later and had it installed. Before pulling out of the dealership I realized that there was no card or code to give to XM when I called to activate for my "PROMISED FREE YEAR SERVICE PLUS ACTIVATION". Promised by salesman, install, and parts. Parts knows that you get a free year but has no idea how it is done. Sales knows that you get a free year but has no idea how it's done and install says check with your salesman or parts. :tap: Not happy. 3 days later salesman still has no idea what is going on, so I talk to the sales manager he says he will have everything figured out in a couple of days. 3 days and nothing! 2 more days and he says that my salesman has the code I need. Can't get ahold of salesman for 2 days. Finally get ahold of him and he says he knows nothing about a code and has no idea what the sales manager is talking about. But he says he will get to the bottom of this and call me back the next day. Don't hear from him so I finally call him back. He says he will have the code the next day. :tap: Now I am f*&^ing ____ed and I start up the chain. Ask for Scion GM, get her. She says she will figure it all out by this afternoon. She says I am supposed to get a code (yeah I figured that out already) but doesn't know when she can get it. I tell her then just cut me a check for the amount of service and I will be happy. She says OK and I think it is all done. Then she calls me back. Now she has a code and she gives it to me. Call in to XM sit on hold, then get a sales rep, I give him my code and he says "That code is only good for 2 months free" :tap: Call back the Scion GM get her VM, call back ask for head GM, get his VM call back. Start screaming at the poor receptionist to just give me a human being. Now I don't know what to do. Continue to wait until these morons get this figured out.(Been waiting for two weeks already) Or just start calling people at Toyota until I find someone that can make this right. This has been the most agrivating time I have ever had buying a vehicle. What do you guys think I should do?

Contact Toyota and complain about the dealership. These people represent Toyota so Toytota should be very intereseted in resovling this for you.

Never underestimate the power of stupidity.

I just went through a similar drama with wheels that I ordered. I already posted about this so I won't go into too much detail... but they sent me the wrong size wheel and they would not fit on my car. I called them and they insisted that the size was correct. I went onto the wheel manufacturer's website and found the info to prove them wrong. When I contacted their customer service reps they REFUSED to go onto the internet to see why they were wrong. In the end I had to call the wheel manufacturer, they told me who the distributor was for this company, the distributor then called them and straightened it out. So they are just now sending me new wheels. In the end it will have been over a month since I placed the order!

Don't give up!

In between fuming phone calls to the dealership I get a call on my cell. You will never guess who it is....

Scion National calling to give me a customer survey on my purchase

I don't think the poor survey girl had any clue what she just got herself into. First question, "Can I ask you a few questions about your purchase and record your comments?"

Finally at almost 6pm I get somebody on the phone who knows what is going on and is able to help me. She was from Toyota Marketing HQ and she says the whole mixup was over XM radio's recent increase in monthly price. She is going to double check up on everything tomorrow and the GM of the dealership is going to call me to make sure everything went ok. XM radio is on and working  and it's free!!!!

BTW sounds good with the subs :)

I can tell you right now what the problem was and I can't believe that they didn't realize it. In order to get the 1 year free activation the XM unit needs to be installed at the port, not at the dealership. I'm glad it all worked out for you though. This is why when a customer wants XM I get their car from the port instead of off the lot. By the way since your in Houston check out the meet on May 29th, PM me for info.

I was contacted by a gentleman from Scion corporate who was following up on the survey that I submitted the other night. I explained the situation and he was very apologetic for the problems that I had. He gave me a direct line and told me that if I ever had any more problems not to hesitate to call him. He also said that he was going to send me a free Scion t-shirt and keychain for my troubles.

Well at least the manufacturer has really impressed me!
