After the accident toady, I found that my dealer doen't have a body shop.

Is this common? They have "a guy" they recommend, who does "Toyota Certified" work, but is this acceptable? What are the standards for Scions? Are the body shops up with the standerds and paint...? Be sure if you have an accident....also ask for depreciation when you talk to the adjuster....Palmer's in Mobile, AL told me they give you 25% of the estimated damage as depretiation...don't be screwed by insurance companies people. Just good information from someone who has had a loss today.

not all toyota dealers have body shop, but some of them do, usually the large ones.

Some do, some don't. It's not like there's special Toyota knowledge needed to paint them. In-house or not, They do it just like all the other cars. Some of the more hi-tech cars like the Jags with their aluminum body parts take different techniques, but the rest are pretty much the same. An in-house shop isn't going to duplicate the factory painting methods.
A lot depends on location, amount of space, management, etc. When I worked at a dealer, we had a guy that handled all our work. Since he got all his business from dealers, he didn't need a storefront type of shop, he built a nice garage-shop combo at his place. He rarely had to deal with the actual car owners and he hired his own workers. We didn't have to manage several more employees as well as the overhead of a body shop.

My dealership has a rather large bodyshop that my poor little xB has already visited. Excellent bodywork/painting. I KNOW it was injured and can't find it...
