my dad has owned ford cars for like 20 some years now and i can say every single one was a pile of ford garbage. (currently he has a 2001? taurus) they are not fun to drive around in, poorly made, and do not last very long.

I'm surprised that the Focus people have time to post on a site while they are getting all of the factory recalls taken care of on their cars.

Maybe the service departments have Wi-Fi or something.

I especially like how the guy said he would rather drive a Tempo. I say let 'em. A$$.\

I had a 2000 Ford Focus.....it sucked big time. I had 9 recalls on it, a blown radiator, busted engine. I replaced all of them and traded it in for my xB. I used to love Ford but it let me down to many times. The devil is real and his name is Ford Focus.

check out my WWW and my profile. I put two lengths on my friends zx3 focus. He has exhaust from headerback and a piggyback programable control module. I'm not sure of what engine work he has done from when it had a turbo on it and it has some ignition work.
Before my iridium plugs, intake, and WR engine damper he put about three to four lengths on me

i had a '88 taurus after my '87 Z28 was totaled (R.I.P :() and as im driving to school on route 1 teh transmission stopped putting power to the wheels, then i look in my rear view mirror to find smoke, fkuid, and huge chunks of metal falling out the back of the car. i lifted the hood to see where the smoke was coming from and the engine was on fire. needless to say i left it burning on the side of the road.2 days later it was still there (the fire put itself out) and had it towed to a local garage and told them to junk it.

My first car was a Ford. Lets put it this way, the auto repair mechanic and I were on a first name basis. After going to him so many times in a short period of time, he finally said to me "Save your money, dont put another dime into this car". I was completely shocked that a mechanic told me not to pay him to fix my car. hahaha I thought that was the funniest thing ever. You know it is bad when a mechanic feels sorry for you.

Theres Ford quality for ya.

I owned a ZX3 for a year and it was on a rollback 3 times. It had so many recalls I was at the dealer monthly. I haven't had the POS for years and I still get recall notices from Ford. I will never buy a Ford again as I had similar problems with a brand new 96 Mustang GT. OH and they are slow, even the SVT didn't go fast. I love my box, it makes me smile everytime I walk towards it in the parking lot full of boring Honda's and SUV's

Although 150,000+ is typical for Toyota engines... hmmm But then again I am a youth who is influenced by mass media... (note the sarcasm)

name ANY ford that didnt have trouble around 50,000-60,000 miles other than the old 80's f250. my uncle has one with 300,000+ miles on it, but he used to work at the ford assembly plant in edison new jersey, and hes also a very competant mechanic...

on another note i have a 1992 camaro rs with the 5 liter v8. it has 127k miles on it and runs like the day it was born. maybe if ford didnt build their "cars" ( ) out of spit and wax they would last (see my post about my taurus)

everyone wants to feel good about whatever car you buy... most of the time it means putting down other cars to make you feel better... i'm sure all the other car message boards out there have a "...fugly xB toaster..." thread somewhere... i wouldn't trip over it...

just thinking about it, there's plenty of scion bashing/cheap shots on these boards... everyone thinks thier car is the best... what everyone should be thinking is my car is best for me...

Festiva was a much better car. You can beat the hell out of them and they last forever. Unlike the focus. I had a festiva but I wanted a brand new car so I got my box.
I had a 4 door focus with a psev motor in it for a rental and it couldn't get out of its own way. I felt really unsafe on the 5 freeway in it

Think of it this way, toyota's last for years, ford's last 2, if that.
I preach from experience, 1993 toyota previa, 300,000 someodd mills and still going strong. Rented a ford escort once, it broke down 2 miles from the rental place  , no joke, they r mad that they bought piles and we bought long lasting pieces of art

I don't see what the big deal is. here we are doing the same thing they are: bashing other cars for little or no reason. focus's aren't fast, but neither are xb's. The focus is designed to own the curves, and the xb is designed to set it apart from the rest of the vehicles out there. "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" I love the way the xb's look, can't stand the xa, and pray to god everyday that they release a turbo tc, but I also love the styling on the focus. sorry for the rant, but we all need to just play nice.

If any of us(or them) had wanted fast cars, we would have saved up and got vettes/vipers.

zephyrus
04-20-2005, 01:20 AM
honestly, do you think you could take an xb around a 90 degree turn at speeds greater than 45 without rolling? I wouldn't try it.

and if you look closely, that guy doesn't call it a box. he calls it an xb. It's misquotes like that that get the intra-forum bashings started. Everyone loves the car they drive, or else they wouldn't be on one of these forums. I love my car, but you don't see me bashing other types of cars because it's not the same as mine

My 1995 TBird will turn 10 years old on Sept 9th this year. I bought it with .6 miles on it (it still had the clear plastic wrapping covering the car and the white grease writing on the windows from the manufacturing plant). It currently has 121,000 miles on it, and I have YET to have a problem with it.

Granted, I am "proactive" and make sure that all regular maintenance is performed on time as suggested by Ford. I'll admit that Fords will bite you if you don't keep them maintained on-time, but I've never had any problems associated with maintenance or anything else... I'd love to have another car just like my TBird. Unfortunately, it only gets 14 MPG and with 2 kids and a wife it's difficult to do day-to-day stuff, which is why we're looking at xBs now. :D

They are upset b/c they drive a focus. They even had a thread on a different forum bashing the honda civic si. And an Si would eat them for lunch stock. I know I own one. So, they are just taking all of their aggression of making a poor decision when buying a car out on everyone else. My sister had one she hadn't had it for a year and it was already having problems. So she traded it in for a corolla s.

You do realize that the WRC Focus is just a *tad* bit different than the ones you find at Avus/Hertz/Ricks Rental Car, right?

It's still on the same platform as the wrc focus which is what makes it appealing. It's got "potential"

Anyways the Focus was super competitive when it came out in 1998 over in europe and was still classing leading when it hit the shores in the US in 2000. Now that its over 7 years old its just your average car. Its too bad the american focus was a tamed down version from whats sold over in europe. The 220hp Focus RS was pretty sweet and the new 2006 Euro Focus ST is really sharp (its got the 220 hp 2.5L Turbo 5cyly from the volvo s40 t5 in it). The new euro focus also sits on the same platform as the new Volvo S40 and Mazda3 (sadly its not even slated to come to the us yet).

while it may be different, it only sees a few days of action before getting completely rebuilt, so it doesnt have time to "ford" itself, though i know colin mcrae has had more than a few temper tantrums with his focus :P

might just be me but... why the hell are these cars being compared at all?... makes no sense to me...

if a brand comparison is what they are after, why not just compare the xA to the focus...?

talking trash about someone else's car is pretty silly anyway. I noticed some people tried to keep it mature but I guess there are always instigators out there.

Anyhow, its not like we need to prove we have the better cars (if they were ever comparable in the first place)...

so I'd say let's just let this thing die...
if you feel the need for satisfaction you can always laugh at them when you see a ford broken down on the road

You do realize that the WRC Focus is just a *tad* bit different than the ones you find at Avus/Hertz/Ricks Rental Car, right?

while it may be different, it only sees a few days of action before getting completely rebuilt, so it doesnt have time to "ford" itself, though i know colin mcrae has had more than a few temper tantrums with his focus :P

Hahah I remeber that man... rally of greece 2002, Colin was so dissapointed in himself after doing a 360 roll in the air and having his focus slam down on the roof and land on 4 wheels again. As soon as he got out of the car to realize he cant go further.... he kicks the damn ford focus hah.

when i wrecked my camry, i was forced to rent a focus and the drive was the worst in my life (i havent driven a ford before ever in my life) and the ride totally sucked...it wasnt smooth like my camry and i felt like i had to really give it to the break for it to stop---or maybe it was too jerky....all i remember is i hated driving that thing for like 5 days.....

if the focus Quality was built better that it was when i owned my 2001 ZX3 5 Speed (rare at the time and special order) for 3 years and logged on a hard 100,500 miles on it, id buy another one, and build it the same way but a wagon.

as we all know this thread is probably gonna be locked up soon because i can already see its startin to flame up with kiddie lanuage and immaturity. we can all say what we want about the Ford Focus and other cars like the Pontiac G6 lookin like a tC (i still dont see a resemblence) or the aveo (which i would make a pocket rocket if i had one)

Lets keep the thread under control so we can express our opinion maturely without it gettin locked up and a new one made a few months later

I'm not trying to flame here, but it seems really funny to me that guys with 108 hp bricks are referring to ANYONE as "slow."

I'm not a Ford fan, in fact, I really don't like most of their products at all. But can't we please stop this BS of referring to an entire company's cars as crap? None of the major automakers (excluding the Koreans here) is incapable of making at least one decent car. The Focus is generally regarded by the automotive press as one of the best economy cars out there and the SVT Focus is one of the best-handling cars you can get for under $40,000... much less under $25,000. Like I said, I don't like Ford either, but I find it hard to really jack the Focus too much unless people are claiming them to be anything other than competent daily drivers (with the exception of the SVT).

Honestly, both cars are really ugly. My mom had a 2001 focus zx3 and i hated it. The XB wins in price and reliability, but honestly i think the focus wins in looks and obviously in performance. So which car wins ? None, they are tied as both being losers.

isn't a focus a glammed up festiva ???? :eyebrow:Hey hey...I owned two Festivas. And frankly, they were the VW BUGS of Ford. They just ran and ran...put over 150,000 on one, and 170,000 on another. GREAT cars.

Now, I also owned a 2000 Ford Out Of Focus, and let me tell you...for the first 37,000 miles, it was great. Then two fuel pumps in less then 2000 miles. Yeah, that got me thinking...

And all the recalls. It was not on the road so much as it was in the shop. Not again, says I.

off the other link above in the focus forums:

"Every car is going to have its minor glitches and don't count on any car manufacturer recalling a car unless it is bursting into flames at a stop light or the tires are falling off while driving (both have been current recalls). I wouldn't worry about it, you got a warranty right? Bumper to bumper 36K miles/ 3 years (or more) so your got 36K miles to just not give a ____ what happens."

does this mean this happened to ford? i dunno, i'd freak if i knew that..

I am extremely unhappy that some of our members have chosen to create accounts at focusfanatics.com just to prod the Ford owners. They do not see it as clean fun and the site admin has expressed his feelings about the situation to me.

Please remember that you guys represent EVERYONE on this site and we don't need a few to mess it all up for the rest of us!
