don't drive at consant speed for long periods of time the first 1000 miles or so....when you astart the car and the blue light is on don't do any crazy driving ....when your done pumpin gas make sure you put the cap on tightly you need to hear at least 5 clicks.....and if you want a cool look for your box...peel the black tape off from around your door trim just be sure to wax it after it...

Congratulations! You'll love your xB. I picked up mine two nights ago. Here are a couple of things I've found out since picking it up...
1) If your back hatch door isn't closed properly, the keyless remote won't lock your car. So, don't panic if you try to lock your car with the remote and it doesn't do anything. Open the back hatch door and close it firmly. Then you'll be able to lock it with the remote.
2) There's a TSB from Toyota about the stock stereo/CD player about a common problem with CDs skipping when you put them in. My stock CD player was one of the ones with the CD-skipping problem. Unfortunately, I didn't discover this until the morning after I picked up my car. I brought it to my dealer and they are going to order a new one to replace it. I forgot to ask the dealer to verify whether or not the CD they installed in my xB had that problem, so make sure to ask your dealer to check that the CD player they install in your car isn't one of the ones that has this problem.
Have fun with your new car!

I just realized you're in New England. I'm just West of Boston. I'm a relative newbie when it comes to car modifications but I went ahead and had some things done to my xB (see my signature). I'm also interested in possibly lowering my car but need to investigate what that actually does performance-wise and how much it would cost.
Also, in case you're interested, there's a cool anti-theft device that's been on the market since the 1970s and hasn't had one car stolen that's had their device installed. Here's a link for more info:

Because the engine block is laser-cut and not machined, there really is no break-in period like there used to be on cars. Plus, Toyota also coats its cylinder heads to reduce friction. Just remember to change your oil at 5,000 miles with general driving, unless you live in a dusty environment.
These are not cheap, short-life vehicles. 150-200,000 miles would not be out of the question for this vehicle with proper maintenance (oil changes and your recommended service intervals.)
Enjoy your new Scion!
