hi all! i'm completely new here on this forum, and also just bought my xb last sunday... 3 days ago!!

I read about breaking in the motor and the theory behind it also. Well, since this is my first BRAND NEW purchase vehicle, with a brand new motor, i feel like i'm doing the whole thing wrong. I revved the motor up to redline for the first time and i'm already on my 150th mile. Is it too late to rev so high? Is there anything i can do to assure long lasting and optimal usage for this new motor?

to brief my history with cars, i'd like to explain i'm pretty savvy with OLD motors. I've swapped my blown SE-R with another SR20DE, and swapped my blown FC3S with another 13bt. i've blown many motors, do to full racing... maintained after each race, and repaired many motors. This xb i bought is soley for commuting and long lasting. I wanted to make sure it has it's optimal potential. It's strange how i know enough to repair and swap motors, but never a brand new motor.... :?

if you have any advice on how and what i should do with this new motor, please, anything would be greatly appreciated...

btw... i currently still have my FC3S, fully modified for track use only, and a AE86 with minor tune-up. I'm selling the AE86 that i've owned for 1 year. If you are interested in either cars, please let me know.

My first priority is the AE86 (RED-hatchback): comes with performance shocks and springs (came with car when aquired), hks muffler, set of hayashi rims, and port and polished head. the motor runs strong.

is the 86 a gts or an sr5 how many miles, any rust, where are you located and how much :D thanks

it has few miles... if i recal correctly it was like 120k... and yes it's a GTS. i'm located in southern california

I thought that the AE86 was only made over seas. I believe they have a corolla thats supposed to be the same platform. Anyone can get me straight on this ?

AE86 is the chasis code. here the "86" is called a corolla gts. over there it was called the trueno.

I used to have an AE92 Trueno ed out. Had it done up japan style and everything. I got the car for 88bucks and sold it for 2,000 to get my xB.

Now back on the subject of fixing up your ride, might I suggest an exhaust upgrade. :D Axel back or manifold back? Since you are coming from the trueno family you are probably interested in getting a manifold back system. I can help you there. 8)
