I installed my TEIN Basics last night and they are set all of the way down. My car is slammed with the factory wheels back on and it handles like it is on rails. The ride is a little bit bouncy but I would guess that is because it is all of the way down.

Took about 2 1/2 Hours. That included a trip to Lowe's for a bolt. Swapping the rear upper mounts is a pain in the ___.

2 1/2 hours? damn. puts my 11 hours to work to shame.

Yeah no kidding. Mine took about 4 hours. How did you tighten the top bolt on the rears? (The one that holds the top mount onto the coilover). I had a really hard time getting the bolt tight without the piston spinning.

You tighten it with an impact then when the shaft starts spinning crank the spring up as much as possible to make tension on the upper mount then tighten again with impact.

Glad to hear you got them and they are installed... We did S-techs last night for a customer with DC Sports Bar in under 2 hours... good job

are the basics a better investment than the super street? like money wise and stuff like that

no... you cant adjust any dampening with the basics...

just curious... does any1 have the teins(S or H) teach's with the trd shocks? im waiting to lower my car, but the problem is i want to do it right the first time, i dont want to be worrying about when my shocks are gonna blow. What have you guys done after your shocks have blown? from what i know, the only aftermarket shock out there is the trd one... i could be wrong though. any help would be appreciated...thx

I know people that have them and they ride like crap. They are really bouncy. Get TEIN Coil-Overs.

I was under the impression that the ground controls were springs only...?

They are just sleeve style coil-overs. They go on your factory struts and blow them out, because they suck!

yes, ground controls on stock struts do suck. however, ground controls on say koni yellows are better than tein basics by far. the gc/koni combination even performs better than the tein SS.

i have been riding on Tein S's and stock shocks for a year now (25K miles) and the ride quality is still quite nice
shocks are still in good shape, but i don't have large wheels
16's for the time being, stay with lighter wheels and more rubber for a better overall ride
