I use to have this problem too, here is how you fix it. Look at your strut bar closely. You will notice that there is a little connector attached to the intake that is touching the strut bar. When you turn on the car, the intake vibrates, which causes that little connector to bump against your strut bar, which makes that ticking noise. Just undo the screw that is holding the connector to the intake, and zip tie it somwhere else, and your problem will be solved.

I know this is an old thread - but the noise is (still) coming from lower in the engine bay (same as before) - you can hear it really well if you put your ear by the driver's side front wheel. I'm going to take off the strut bar tomorrow and see if it still makes the noise. In the meantime, any ideas what that might be?
