View Full Version : Paint touch up kit.
Orataro 02-19-2004, 11:33 PM Well, like many of you I too have gotten chips in my paint. Last week I ordered touch up paint for my Polar White xB from Toyota. SRP $5.25 Part #00258-00068. The sales guy suggested a "Touch-up Paint Glob Remover Kit" SRP $13.99. So, I ended up buying it.
Today it came in and I tried it.
1, Added paint to my chip and let dry.
2. Wipe on "Touch up Magic"
3. Wipe glob of paint off.
It worked great! It filled the chip and left no glob. No sanding needed.
Afterwards, wipe on the clear coat and the chip was gone. I can't even see it anymore.
I'm not sure how it will work on dark colors but on my Polar White xB, it worked great.
its_ikon 02-20-2004, 12:30 AM sounds like something i need on my car.
quadraphonic 02-20-2004, 12:37 AM Is the glob remover a toyota product or third party? I wouldn't mind having one!
PandaIst 02-20-2004, 01:35 AM Sounds like something i would need for my front bumper.
pmpnxb 02-20-2004, 02:31 AM the glob remover is a bit harsher on the darker colors, it can leave swirl marks in the clear if your not careful... follow the directions!! but I love that stuff

This so-call Glob remover is a third party item.
Here is some information if needed.
Turbo Shine & Touch-Up Magic
1702-H Meridian Ave.
San Jose, CA 95125

I found that if you add only enough paint to fill your chip is needed. Otherwise, you'll be rubbing for awhile.
How it works.
This so-call Touch-Up Magic slowly dissolves the new paint until it becomes flush with your Original paint to fill your chip. I think it's just paint thinner to be honest.

I got mine from my Toyota dealer. I'm sure any parts store would carry it or a similar product.

Male_Nurse 04-21-2004, 12:23 AM You guys think that touch up paint will work for my Blue Onyx Pearl xB'eezy? Like you guys i have a grip of rock chips on my front bumper and a few mild lil scratches around the car.

That's the stuff but mine came with three bottles. The second bottle disolves the paint slowly to fill your chip. (Again, I think it's just paint thinner to dislove the paint. )
The third bottle is a sealer.
House_Of_Steel 04-21-2004, 11:30 AM I wonder if this kit is available for the Hot Lava Color ? Would anyone have a Part #
scionmilktruck 04-21-2004, 12:35 PM I need some for my damn rear bumper!!!    My baby is finally scratched  Hot Lava # anyone???
Indy007 04-21-2004, 01:16 PM Toyota touch-up paint part #'s work like this: 00258-00xxx with xxx being the 3 digit color code. For xB's Polar White is 068, Thunder Cloud is 1D2, Black is 202 (according to the spoiler color code anyways. i thought it was supposed to be black sand pearl), Black Cherry is 3P2, Camo is 6M7, Blue Onyx is 8P8. For xA's Phantom Gray is 1E3, Black Sand Pearl is 209, Indigo Ink is 8P4, & Silver Streak is 1E7.
I've been told hot lava touch-up, which is 8R4 if I'm not mistaken, will be available in 2 more weeks (if we're lucky).
Turbo Shine is probably at most Toyota dealerships. It just won't have a normal part # since it's aftermarket. I've got some sitting on the shelf here. They're small packages, plastic bagging, yellow tag, 2 sticky circles on the front to stick tubes of paint to. Haven't used it myself, but I've heard good things. The whole key to touch up paint is just making sure the area you're touching up is very, very clean. Use a little rubbing alcohol on the spot to get the layers of wax off and you'll be fine.

:x I can relate to your feelings about the scratch .... I am very worried about driving mine ( #1385 ) ...... Have some small bugs that need fixed fromt he dealer before I venture out on my 1000 mile breakin .....
Have you considered that new 3M clear paint protector film ? I found a guy that will do the job - protect the front end, rocker panels, back bumper and such ...
Cost is around 400 / give or take - I think this might do the job
mikochu 04-23-2004, 05:02 AM Touch Up Magic seems to do what it says...but I still feel a sort of dissatisfaction from it. *shrug* I'll work on it more tomorrow morning...
comdico 04-30-2004, 02:52 PM My Scion is only a week old and somebody scratched my rear bumper already!!! Grrr.
Should I just contact my Scion dealer re: this kit?
mikochu 04-30-2004, 05:17 PM if they sell it. My dealer didn't. I had to order it from bluelightning.
XeroCool 05-01-2004, 10:16 PM I just bought some for my thundercloud and it works. It seems the dealers here in the bay area have it. It works great on the rock chips on the hood. I used it on a 5 inch scratch done by some _______ and it didn't work so well. You can still see the scratch but this is still my second coat. It did fill the scratch neatly though.
