APR c/f splitter...**NEW W/ PICS...**
Has anyone out there installed one yet. Just got mine in this afternoon.
I'm going to be tackling this mod tomorrow after class lets out. 4-5 hrs., should give me ample time. I don't wanna rush it..so I wanted to get some suggestions about drilling and mounting.
The easiest part will be taking the bumper off...
But I can't image mounting the splitter being any harder...but we'll see. Any takers in the N. tx area willing to give me a hand lemme know...nice case of beer to help motivate!

It depends on how you intend to mount it. I guess the easiest way would be to cut the splitter to follow the edge of the bumper but then it wouldn't be too sturdy as it wouldn't have any mount points to the frame. I took off all the plastic guards and attached it to the car's frame using one existing bolt and making 2 metal spacers to bolt it on in two other spots. That along w/ six bolts along the bumper's edge makes it very solid.
Man that looks great!
I think the 12 mount nuts and bolts will do. I would like to keep the plastic guard there to keep out the dirty and grime. It done such a great job...why take them away.
How long from start to finish did it take you to complete the install.
Also noticed you mounted the extentions the same way APR did the H&R tC. Looks like that is going to be the best mounting point. That way theres no binding or twisting. I was going to mount the extentions along the sides of the lower grill.
btw: did you eyeball the distances you drilled the holes in the splitter...and any tips of drilling thru the c/f and f/g without doing any damage?
Thanks

1. If you want to retain the plastic guard, you are going to have to cut away a large portion of the splitter as the guard extends down beyond the bumper and makes it impossible to flush mount the splitter. Just try to test mount it and you'll see what I mean. As far as keeping out the dirt, I believe the splitter will extend almost as far as the original guards do.
2. You could mount the support rods on the side as long as there is enough distance between the two mounting points.
3. I didn't eyeball any of the drilling or cutting. I first took the bumper off and aligned it with the splitter and marked where to drill for mounting along the bumper's lip. Prior to that I masked off the splitter to prevent the drill slipping. As long as you use a sharp bit and don't apply too much pressure when you drill you should be fine. I then put the bumper back on to measure and mark off the holes for mounting to the frame.
4. Total time was probably close to what you estimated, somewhere between 4-6 hrs. I spent a couple of hours the first night then finished up the next day. You could probably do it quicker but I measured thrice and cut/drilled once to avoid any mistakes.
The install goes pretty quick once you mount it to the bumper. Pm me if you have any questions and I'll try to help ya.

Tc808...
Just wanted to thank you very much for the walk through! It helped out tremendously...I was able to get started right when I got home from class at 2:30pm...then from the time I wrenched the first bolt to tightening the last screw...I was done by 5:00ish.
Getting the bump off was a breeze...no less then 5-10 minutes.
I did run into a problem that I'm going to have to go back and remedy...but it looks find from a normal view...
A couple things kinda upset me...but will pass. I noticed that...
1. I couldn't use the plastic covers like I wanted too...and now understand why.
2. That left me with a nice collection of screws and tabs, that I will now have to store
in a safe place, in case I decide to put it all back to factory.
3. I noticed this while bolting up the bumper after the install of the splitter to the bumper...I couldn't figure out why I had a hard time re-aligning the bumper...then realized that the tow hooks below the car where in the way. This caused the splitter to kinda bow out making it difficult...but with a little elbow grease I managed to making this work for now until I go back under.
I have to cut out slits so that I can expose those tow hooks in case I ever need to have the car tow.
But all in all...I really like the overall look it has given the front end of the car. Very aggressive! I'll post pics sometime tomorrow.
Thanks again!

Glad it worked out good for you BigKid. I used a dremel to cut out a section for the tow hook. You might also want to drill a few drain holes so the water doesn't pool. It can get a little aggravating to keep wiping the splitter after washing your car.

I thought the water might have some trouble escaping from u top of the splitter. Again, once I pull down the splitter to cut out the notch for the ankors, I'll drill some holes to help relieve the trapped water issue.

That looks good Tc808.
BigKid, post pics when you get a chance...

that looks sick bro...i like that the only reason why i didnt buy one is because where i live there are alot of pot holes from the snow and dips to get into parken lots and stuff and if you crack cf or break it there really is no way to fix it you know..but it looks sick bro...are your headlights yellow????

And yes...the headlights are yellow.
So did you have to drill on the bumper to attach it or what... I am a little confused on the install... also how much does it weigh? On the apr page it say shipping weight is 80 pounds... I know that can be right for carbon fiber.

Tc808 gave me a really good general idea...and I just went at it plotting the spaces between the bolts...
I Placed painters tape where I was going to markers the holes to drill. I also made it a point to use a sharpie where need to help me remember where the bumper sat once I took it off. That way I could just lay it back on top and follow the lines and match up the placement again.
I also mapped out where I was going to place the rods while I had the splitter placed where I wanted it...and mark holes for the rods.
Then I went on the tape the other side of the bumper. And started to drill the holes. After that clean up the holes I made, and placed it back on top of the splitter...matched up the lines I made earlier with the sharpie..and began marking the holes on the actually splitter. Again tape down the the areas where you will be drilling on the c/f.
After that prepared to drill through the c/f and f/g. Make sure to have gloves and a mask on. Your dealing with f/g...if that stuff gets under your skin...you'll be itching like crazy later...trust me.
...then clean the holes out...bolt up from underneath, with washer inside the bumper and nut. 6mm wrench, long socket and rachet will do the trick to help tighten down the splitter. But be careful not to over tighten...don't wanna risk over tightening and damaging something.
If you haven't already don't forget to drill out the hole for the rod hit those up too.
And while you have the splitter off...I would suggest drill acouple holes to help drain water...when things get alittle wet.
Everything else after that is pretty self explantory...
