Saw these on ebay.... anyone think they would work? I'm affriad that the spring rate might be a lil soft, but..... and $40 for shipping is a complete ripoff tho.... has anyone bought these?

Check out this link...it's for an Audi, but describes in detail how the system works. Personally, I'm not sure how it would work in the rear since xB's have separate shock and spring positions.

I am not advocating this type of coilover; just giving you an idea of how it works.

These might be like the other coil overs that were on Ebay that someone who owned an Echo said they popped out on him while he was driving. I personally wouldn't risk it, but if you do purchase them PLEASE be carefull.

I have a set of different ones on my Xb for over 6 months or more now. Never had problem with them and the spring rate is very high on them. I can't understand how people who have never had experiance with them can talk about something they have no clue about :lalala: . I'm happy with the set I have and I'm not going to ditch them anytime soon. They do exactley what I want them to do. No complaints here............some people just need to lighten up. If you don't like them fine. Just don't go telling people to stay away from them if you have never had them

Munch, you said the spring rate is very high? How low is the lowest setting considering the higher rate of the springs?

The thing about running cheap coilovers is that you have to be worried about the sleeves cracking over time from stress.

The ride is still pretty decent even on the lowest setting. I like a stiff ride so I can't really know if you or anybody else will.

That's why I check mine weekly when I check my tire pressure and when I wash my car. It's like everything else. You gotta maintain your car if you want it to treat you good.

I know people who have gotten ebay coilovers and over a period of time (about a year) the coilover sleeve will rust and you won't be able to adjust them!

i had em for a long time , i've had them on multiple cars , crappy ride good value. good looking drop . end of the line. oh and that link? yeah they get like that when you dont screw them onto the shock/strut , and don't be fooled on 90% of cars other than hondas you will not get 0-4 inch , maybe 0-3 inch sometimes more sometimes less , for xa/xb the most you can go before losing all shock travel and bottoming out is approx 3 inches up front and with most of the rear springs about 2.5 or 2.75 in the rear.

oh and another thing that honda site talks about mushrooming , with the suspension design and shock design aka lower spring perch makes that impossible. the threaded part cannot start to mushroom given the design with these cars. yes the rear setups of the ebay kits are garbage but the fronts are pretty damned good. the only drawback to the rear is if you do not position the threaded perch correctly you can get rubbing , scraping , and spring noise.
