Default Scion S/C easily upgraded (MY THOUGHTS)

Okay so when this wonderful supercharger is finally released, it will be only boosting at probably 9psi, if even that. The 2.4 liter engine in our Tc's can handle so much more than that, a good turbo running on just 15psi blow-off (maybe not even that much), would raise the BHP up to about 300hp just by sheer volume. So if you changed the pulleys on the TRD charger, get it up around 17 psi, god that would rock the Tc world. My buddy has a 1.8 liter audi station wagon that is running on a 15psi blowoff and that thing easily has 275 bhp. Im just ranting, but people should be aware of the potential of this motor.

That would be nice, but personally, I don't think many people will do/want that. One of the reasons to get the TRD s/c vs anyone else is because of the warranty. It is simply the only forced induction system for the tC that will not void the factory warranty. I am sure if you raise the boost, unless they specify otherwise, you will void your warranty.

TRD's figures are conservative because it's a dealer installed option that carries the warranty with it. It's hard to provide a long warranty on a car that's boosted at 15 psi because those usually have more maintenance issues than a 9psi boost.

I thought the TRD SC rumor was that it's going to boost 6psi?

by the time the TRD is available, most of our warranties will have run out. So yea, switch pullies/belts and crank ... you'll enjoy the boost

so can our 4 cylinder engine run ok with this modded supercharger that will bring it up to 300hp like this guy is saying?

i dunt think its going to be 6 psi. im shooting for 2-4 psi. without BOV and remapping ECU for fuel.

This engine has been turbo-charged up to 425hp @ 18psi with stock internals.

Shooting for 2-4 witha SC?
If so... why would anyone put a bov with a sc anyway?

4-6psi is fine. 7-11 psi with a new pulley would probably be fine too

anything more than 8 psi boosting with the 2az with out forged internals as a daily driver is just plain not a good idea. 300 WHP is not hard to achieve with 10-12 psi if you know what you are doing. Every vehicle in the US that came with factory forced induction has usually been running 4-6 psi. Also, with 15 psi, the tC can easly have 400+ whp. if you are running 15 psi and are only running 300 BHP, you have a sh*tty mechanic

stock evo runs about 18-19 psi, you nobbies are say 2-4 psi you would be happy with, lol.

^^^ don't be calling people "nobbies" What ever that means. With out mentioning what kind of internals a stock EVO has. 2-4 psi on the 2az as a daily driver is safe. and the US stock evo's don't run boost in the teens.

The tC is supposed to be happy up to 9 psi over longer periods. All the info I have heard is around 6psi for the TRD SC. But to answer the queastions people had about upgrading it, it is definitely possible with a new pulley as long as the rpm limit of the parts (bearings, etc) are not overcome. Also, at some point the cost will ramp up due to the possible neead for other upgrades to the fuel system. The cost just depends on how high you go with it. I'm sure if I get the TRD, I will eventually try it just for fun :-)

the other question is, i don't know if i trust anyone around here to know what they are doing with the tC. the thing is so new that no one has the expirence with doing stuff like this to it. it will be a expirement for most people.
