Default A Shocking Experience

Everytime I get out of my xB I get shocked. It is like a carpet shock just stronger. Is this happening to anyone else? And is there a way to stop it?

Try some of the anti-static spray stuff (static-quard is one) for clothing, should be available at the local grocery store. Spray the car seat, carpet and the inside of the door. Should take care of the problem.

The first time it discharges like that when I'm refueling and

BOOM

This has some potentially serious repercussions. I'm building a ground wire kit to see
if it helps. At least it can't hurt. The next idea is to install a grounding wire/ribbon that
will touch the ground when stopped. I've seen these on Police cruisers and commercial
vehicles.

Yeah seriously, that is why I got concerned about it. B/c last year a car near here went up in flames at the gas pump b/c of static electricity. Just don't get back in your car if you are in the process of re-fueling.

I know the wires you are talking about. The semi's have them. I guess I will have to do some grounding wire work. Thanks.

The only way to not get shocked is to be touching the door when you touch the ground. Oterwise after you get out try to only touch the window to close the door. Static builds when you slide out of the seat and discharges (shocks) when you then touch the door to close it.

Some people reported a grounding kit helped. I installed one, cold front came through the next day, and it was worse than before. We'll see if it really helped in 8 months or so.
