According to www.scion.com they have no hassle/no haggle pricing. basically it says build your own scion, print out your summary and go to the dealership. this seems kind of odd to me because the price I am getting is extremely cheap. I typed in my zipcode (61878) and chose the following options:
Sport Pedal Covers: $79
Fog Lights: $350
Rear Bumper Applique: $58
Rear Spoiler: $385
LED Light Enhancementsby Luxaurua: $280
Cup Holder Illumination: $299
Carpeted Floor Mats/Cargo Mat: $120
Cargo Cover: $55
Door Sill Enhancements by Acsco: $139
Accessories Total: $1,765
Base Price: $14,480
Delivery, Procesing and Handling Fee: $485
Grand Total: $16,730
Now, that seems pretty cheap for this vehicle. Can someone please spread some light on this for me.

Don't forget financing either. Unless youre paying cash, $16,730 could potentially turn out to be a lot more depending on your credit. But, that goes for whatever car youre going to buy. So ya, basically it'll be around what you figured plus a few other things.
Plus, I dunno if that cup holder illumination is really worth $300 bucks! Save a little money...

It does seem cheap, doesn't it? Because it is.
That's part of the beauty of the thing.

IMHO the car is cheap (but I mean cheap in a good sense), but the accessories are expensive.

sport pedals
led light enhancements
cup holder illumintaion
that would save you $678

Dealer Fees in Connecticut they run from $399 at colonial toyota, milford down to $249 at A-1 New Haven and Scion Watertown.
I think $400 is kinda steep, personally.

Maybe I am missing something here about all the folks that are _____ing about additional dealer fees ~ On the SCION website, when you build your own XB, after you select your transmission and model, and you enter your zip code - it shows a fee of $485.00 Here is what it says:
Historically, vehicle manufacturers and distributors have charged a separate fee for processing, handling and delivering vehicles to dealerships. Scion's charge for these services is called the "Delivery, Processing and Handling Fee" and is based on the value of the processing, handling and delivery services Scion provides as well as Scion's overall pricing structure. Scion may make a profit on the Delivery, Processing and Handling Fee.
Your saying that the Dealers are charging in addition to this fee ?? If a dealer needs to add additional fees then I would take my business elsewhere to a Scion Dealer who is playing by the rules and not making a killing on these fees ! My Dealer is not charging fees, which is nice !!

But most dealers DO charge their own processing fee, at least EVERY one in my area.

All the dealers around here charge an extra fee. I tried to negotiate it out, (like I did for my Ford truck), but they just said sorry, that's the price take it or leave it. I'm not going to drive to Georgia to save $250.

Dude, just get the standard Pure Price model w/out all the accessories for now. After you get your Scion come back to this website and research all of the accessories that you want, you will find many websites that offer all of the accessories that you want for way below dealer price and some are better quality. You do however have to install them yourself but that is all a breeze being that their are a lot of people on here who have already done the work and posted a "how to" forum to make your job easier. I paid 14965 plus a 460 destination fee, I added most of those accessories and the total price with all came out to less than a grand.
TYC Tail lights = 280
Under dash/cup holder Illumination (cathodes) = 20$
Under car illumination (cathodes) =30
Rear applique = 12
Floor mats = 30
Fog Lights = 290
Cargo cover = 35
Door sill = 60
Spoiler =289
Check it out you will be surprised

I know this car is a great price for so much but my dad being the family car buyer is under the impression that he can still talk the price down. I informed him of the pure pricing plan and he laughed. So with the possible demand and me wanting to get it when it comes out in June i told him there not gonna give it to him for cheaper. Theres no possible way hes gonna be able to talk them down am i right?

He will feel like he was left out of the buying decision. I would take him with you. If you have a good dealership that you are going to they will explain in detail the whole thing for him. Especially the whole buying process. Good luck!!!! :D

you will have room to bargin with the accessories, but in my opinion none of the accessories are practical. i have yet to see anyone on these forums who has successfully talked down a dealer on the base sticker price. good luck.

all dealers that signed up to sell Scion (not all do) in addition to laying down usually over $100K, have signed a covenant that states that we will do the things how Scion wants us to with Pure Price, setting up the dealership, training the staff, etc. If we don't comply, they'll withhold our incoming inventory, kinda like how yer mom would tell you that she'll give you the cookie if you behave. You know the cookies are there and you gotta act according to mom's covenant to get the cookie. considering that a Toyota/Scion dealer is the most coveted franchise to have in the automotive world, dealers are happy to comply.

You can get some accessories for less if you go to the parts department and by them ... install them yourself. Picked up OBX sports pedals at my dealers parts dept for$47. That and an oil filter for my $50.00 scion gift card.

I find it hard to believe that Scion/Toyota would withhold inventory from a dealer who sold for less than MSRP. If they are selling lots of them , they sure wouldn't. Scion is not in the business of controlling small quantities of a wanted commodity just to keep people paying whatever they ask. Funny thing about supply and demand, sooner or later, supply catches up with demand. Then who pays MSRP plus fees? There are dealers out ther who sell for what the want (discount).
