Default What to look for in a detail service

I would like to take my tC to a detail service for the first full wax and polish. What sort of things should I make sure that these guys do/dont do?

Make sure they use good wax and not the cheap stuff. Ask how long they have been in business...ummm ask to see some of there work like an example car, ask if they have a warranty, ask what kind of process they prepare the car, how many steps, bla bla bla, how many coats of wax/polish, how long will it last, what can i do to make it last longer.

Ummm that it i think.

Do it yourself and know it was done with care. It 's simple - Wax on, Wax off...

If you do take it somewhere, mention repeatedly about how meticulous you are and your high expectations of the job you are paying for. Many people just take it cuz they don't want to deal with it and don't really care much about their cars and the quality of the work often reflects that attitude. I know I'm always left expecting more whenever I've taken my wife's van anywhere...

I do it all by hand aswell. It's better that way, then i can take my time and know what i am doing and not worry about it ya know? Plus it comes out better and you appreciate it more, AND you save yourself a chunk of change.

There is a company that does a lot of cars in my office complex. The service that I was looking at is their "sealant wax". From their flyer: Includes hand wash and preparation for waxing. A 6 month lasting wax that has UV filter... the hand wash is: Exterior hand wash that gently washes without scratching.. They are charging $65 to do it. and I have seen them out there with a nice buffer. The company looks professional, they have a new truck, nice generator, nice buffer, matching company shirts. What do you guys think is appearance value in this case? What if they do use good wax and microfiber towels would you do it?

dude, just ask someone who had their car detailed what they thought. $65 is an excellent price. if you like the look of work they have done and previous customers say good things then have them do your car.
