The funny thing is...the estimated fuel cost between an xA and a Prius is like $200 difference. For a car that's about $10,000 more, it doesn't really warrant the cost IMO. I'd take the Scion any day.

Shift at lower points, no reving your engine. Cruise in a higer gear if possible.

Even during the first 260 or so miles i manager close to 30mpg in mostly city driving.. and it's getting better...

Dude be glad your tank is only 10 gallons... i paid 1.99 for gas today... but I will drive a whole week on it... I feel bad for my dad's vette.. he's eating sh!t on gas prices right now... Generally if you have a stick... get to 5th as quick as you can and keep your rpms under 3500... should save some gas... there is thing in the owners manual about how to save gas (i.e. drive like gramma)...

if you really want to save gas, carpool or drive the car easy. if you have a manual trans then shift at like 3k-4k rpms.

Stip the interior and put a bucket for a seat. That could help.

you can get good mileage in a vette if you drive like a grandma.

but that requires impossible levels of restraint =)

Ok simply plan your trips.. have to do it like this.. go downhill everywhere you go.. and with the wind at your back.. the wind part ussualy take a little more planning.. and weight is always an issure with gas milage so.. lighten everything... as stated above strip the interior... while your at it.. drill out everything fenders hood suspension parts.. um dont drill any motor or tranny parts it will usualy make your gas milage zero.. but not in a good way.. Im thinking how much gas milage do you want? I get better milage in my xB than I do on my friggin sport bike.. Ok so my sport bike is a pig at 25MPG but damn better than a motorcycle... and Im not gonna mention the 6-7 MPG bigblock blazer in my driveway..:twisted:

You forgot one - install a mast and a sail. On particularly windy days, you can really stretch your mileage. Even without a tailwind, you could tack into the wind, but it may cause some confusion for drivers behind you... :lol:

year and a half?? wow most of ours take about 3 to 6 months

I get the best mileage if I make all my shifts at 3000 rpm.

Just filled up....and with a little more aggressive driving his past week, I got 29 mpg.

Not complaining here! Next week, I will go back to my 3000 rpm rule and see what I get. Usually i get over 30.

One way to extend the MPG is to take your time to get up to speed. It takes a lot of gas to get moving, but if you take it easy you can conserve a fair amount.

its a ford f150 extra cab v6 with 20" and it gets anywhere from 10-14 mpg[/img]

from a resident of Katy Texas no less... how's it out there west of Houston?? I miss Bass Pro Shops for my fishing gear... anyway back to cars...

if you really want to get better gas mileage get an xA :wink: at 34 mpg w/ aggressive driving and parking lot 880/101 I can't complain..

as for the xB, how much can be done w/ non-aggressive shifting?

I must just be one of the lucky few but when i drive my xb like a madddd man chirping the tires and down shifting threw the gears i still get 23 mpg alot nicer than my wrx that thing eats up gas!
