Default gotta short shifter? I gotta question...

When installing your short shifter what is the exact location of the spring thats on the pin that connects the side arm to the base?

Are the ends of the spring crossed like an "x" or like "| |"?

If its unclear sorry... thats the best i could explain it.

thanks

VIP_tc , do you remember the exact location of the spring?

Were the ends crossed like an x they place on that post on the sidearm.

See when I took that large pin out, the spring kinda popped out of place... so when i reinstalled it kinda guessed.

I crossed the ends of the spring then put them on the post.

The car goes in and stays in gear fine.

I just want to make sure and all...

it just seems more difficult then it should be to put the damn car in gear...

I understand the short throw is supposed to be like that... but i didnt expect the throws to be that much tougher.

I don't know if this will help you much, but it's a high res pic I had from when I was doing my install and it shows the spring laying on the work bench still connected to the plastic side piece. Atleast this is the spring I think your talking about.

This is a side by side pick of the B&N Short shifter laying next to the stock.

It felt like it was a little harder to engage into the gears the first day or so. Though now it's smooth, I just got to be carefull as I can easly pop it out of third and into nuetral with just a flick of my fingers. I do most my shifting with my fingers and palm of my hand without even lifting my elbow.

Because the stock height of the shifter has reduced, as well as the pivot point, it's going to feel a lot more "notchy" as far as putting it into gear is concerned. It's normal, and you will get used to it. Getting a weighted shift **** with my short shifter (TWM shifter and ****) helped me with that problem A LOT.
