Default AMP wiring KIT Question: 2 Wires ?

Maybe I'm confused, but I have wired amps to cars before,

I recently purchased a Rockford Fosgate Amp Wiring Kit and it says something about having two different Power Gauge wires.

I think it says there is 4 gauge Power wire and 8 gauge Power wire, why would they give me two different types of power wire.

I only have ONE 1000w amp to wire, so should I just go ahead and use the 4 guage wire ??

does that cuz you should run the 4 gauge from the batter back.. to a distributuon block then it reduces down to 8 gauge.

For the current draw you're going to have, I'd have to recommend that you run the 4 gague all the way into the amp (assuming it accepts that large of an input gague. The reason that it comes with a distro and the 8 ga is because lots of amps don't accept that large of gague, and lots of people like to run a larger gague for upgradability issues. The 4 ga to combat line loss then the 8 because their amp only accepts it.

Just check the size of size of the terminal compared to the size of the wire. With 1000W amp I would be surprised if it wouldn't accept a 2 Ga. wire.

Another Question, since I have a fuse block and I am only using ONE 1000w amp, should i put a larger fuse in the fuse block:

This is the current set-up:

{Battery}====4GaugeWire===[60a fuse]=======4GaugeWire=======[FuseBlock:30a fuse | 30a fuse]------8GaugeWire------<1000w Amp>

i guess the block is designed to split between two amps, but i only have one amp so should i be putting a 30a fuse in that block, or should i get the 60a or what ??

Just so you all know not many amps take 4 gauge straight in......

The point of having the one fuse up front is to not back feed... Which is so unlikely to happen... Then the last one is just incase it would spike.... and fry the amp... 30 is a little low... for a 1000 watt amp I would think 60 - 100

some advice about past experiences, Place the a fuse as close to the battery as you can. If for some reason your power cable rubs through or gets punctured and gounds out, having the fuse close to the battery will will allow the fuse to blow without the risk of causing a fire or melt down of whatever is in the way.

And the Amp itself should have a fuse built in it. Find out the amp rating and match it on your fuse block. Just dont go any higher than the recomended rating of the amp.
