yup i would think its too late. only the manufacture can install them. maybe if you ship it to japan...

besides you dont need them. the tc got good side crash test ratings even without the side airbags. dont worry. they are safe cars

Yea man, $650 was probably a good deal. It lowers the insurance too I heard!
As Kelvin said, tC has good rating on side crash, so that comforts me a little!

you can't get the SRS after delivery to dealership. SRS installation is all part of the allocation process. they have to install it at the docks when they receive the tCs off the boat.

but if you know a guy at the docks.... maybe he can hook you up.

That is the most obsurd thing I have read. We drive a very small car. SRS are a must now a days vs. SUVs, etc. We do not drive a safe car that could justify no SRS if it were an option. Give me a break.

i think the driver accounts for most of the safety. when a guy flashes me to race, i just move into the right lane and let him pass me. oh well, his ego vs. my life. haha, ill take my life any day.

Actually, the side airbags do NOT lower your insurance. I double checked on that one (at least with Progressive). But it would be nice to have them to be safer. I was thinking of getting them too, but the tCs at the lot I went to did not have them and I asked about adding and they would have to order a new tC...

State Farm, maybe? You should probably know that.

I know the lojack helps, b/c it's a tracking feature so if it's stolen, makes it eaiser to get it back. Same with VIN etching on the windows. That will lower it too. Makes the car traceable.

I'm a single guy, under 25, so my insurance price kind of sucks.

I really wanted the side bags, but was told it would be a minimum wait of many months. I remember hearing on TV that statistics show 50% of deaths due to side impact crashes could be prevented with Side air bags. (Note: Dont quote me on that statistic, I may have remembered incorrectly, but I know its a high percentage)

i refused to get a tC without side curtain airbags. (oh, btw SRS does not refer to the side curtain airbag. it stand for supplemental restraint system which applies to airbags (front) in general. just so that no one is confused)

my dealer said the wait would be longer, on top of that i said i wanted IIP no matter what. i just got lucky and it came in within 2 weeks.

You got 35% off for insurance becoz u install lo-jack? GUYCO give me no **** for the lo-jack (reason: it does not stop the thief from stealing your car in the first place)

But its nice to have it, feel safe

true it doesnt stop the car from being stolen but he helps track down the vehicle quicker which diminshes time for damage !!! Hence the Insur. ppl pay less for damaged or stolen parts

the tC comes with two side airbag systems. I don't see why you can't get the ones in the seats inttalled at your dealership. It should be not much more complicated than my heated seats.

Side airbags/curtain airbags are ONLY installed at the factory....they are not installed at the port. They're not easy to install, so no dealer will do it. Also, there is more to them than being like heated seats. There are various sensors within the vehicle that make them work properly. Therefore, the answer is......

SIDE AIRBAGS ARE FACTORY INSTALLED OPTIONS ONLY!!!!!!!

Sorry you can't add them, unless you trade in and order a new one!
