Smog, glass used and some other safety feature will have to be met before it can licensed here in the U.S. It is far easier to get a U.S. car licensed in a foriegn country than a car froma foriegn country licensed in the U.S.. Thats why the quad cab minitruck took so long to make it to us. THey been available in foriegn countries for 25 years now. Safety is a major concern. Even a european spec. Mercedes will cost several thousand dollars to comply with U.S. safety and emissions. I am a former embassy brat. Our family imported a couple and I seen other family do it. Be ready for the governmental red tape. Bill

Good luck getting it through customs without selling your legs to science to pay off any modifications it'll need to be legally registered and driven. Not to mention dealing with ignorant customs agents who've never heard of import car shows and can't see the reasoning behind importing a jdm car. Your better off waiting a couple years till it starts being offered over here with a 4wd option.
