Default Ready to buy a TC

I'm about ready to buy a TC but I keep on reading around the net that every TC has to be ordered. I'm in the Los Angeles Areas, is this true? Also any advice before I go to the dealer, I know everyone in this forum has gone through the process of buying one. Please share your experience. Did you get it right the same day? Did you have to order it? How long was the wait? Dealer recommendation around Los angeles area. etc.

By the way, I plan on getting the car with the standard options.

Thanks for any input

Welcome man. No, every TC doesn't have to be ordered, only if it's not available at the dealership (I had to order my superwhite 5-speed TC as there were no others in Ohio for sale). I don't have it yet (ordered it about 2.5 weeks ago), and the wait is supposed to be 6-8 weeks. I was also told that for side airbags it would add a week or two to the waiting time.

u can buy one off hte lot, but it may not have the transmission.color you want. It also may have extra options (most likely) you dont want.

I had mine custom ordered, took only 4 weeks at the time

I got my tC and drove off yesterday...it was a short visit at the dealership.

Your best shot to drive off the lot with one is to call ahead and find out if they have any...I think most dealers get them regularly but only in small qty. I called Puente Hill Scion and went in and out with my BSP tC...the only accessory that was on it is floormats...I then added scion security.

All other dealers I talked to all have a 2-6 weeks wait and I believe most tC's arrive as base model.

If you really want to drive one home the same day you should ask yourself the 1st and 2nd color preferences (I settle with my 2nd choice but it was a great decision. I wanted the car bad so...) I called at 1 and went in at 3...there are 3 when i called but only 2 left when I got there so they go really fast...once you locate some tC you should act fast...hope this helps.

I went to my local dealer 4/13, did the usual checks and prequalifying, and ordered an IIP 5spd since they had none on the lot. They DID have a RS1.0 so that became my second choice. After a few weeks I checked back. There was basically no change to the expected wait time, and it was pretty much a given that it would be into June before they found the one I had ordered. I knew that they only had one RS and would likely only get that one so I drove off in that instead. I didn't want to wait till July to get the blue and didn't want to lose out on the opportunity to get an RS if I was unable to get an IIP. Best advice is to have a backup color that you may be satisfied with. That may help speed things along.

Thanks for sharing your experience, please keep it coming. It looks like I'm gonna end up waiting for months. In that case, shouldn't I wait for the 2006 model? When do they get them in the lots? I don't seem to be getting an honest answer from the salesmen.
