Default odometer backlight stays on

topic says it all, and i can't find it in the ICE section either. so basically, i've noticed that my odometer backlight stays on while i drive during the whole day. the rest of teh dash isn't lit, and when i go to turn my parking lights/headlights on, the odometer backlight dims a bit. this seems odd... but i've never noticed it before. is this normal in a tC?

yes it stays on so you can read it better. it dims at night so it doesn't distract your driving.

you can adjust the odometer light with the dial to the left of your steering wheel. i think you can turn it to "on" where the light stays on all the time, of of you turn the dial just below that, the odo light only turns on when your headlights are on. turn down farther to dim the odo lighting.

i hope this helps and i didn't interpret your question wrong.

yeah, the tC has a dimming dial. it's near the gas and temperature gauges on the left by the door.

checked that today, the dimmer switch does nothing unless the parking lights or headlights are on.
