DjFrOsT 10-06-2003, 04:22 PM  wow!...thats all i can say...wow!...randy you da man...keep up da great work... tinybigrig 10-09-2003, 01:44 AM ill be hittin you uop when my car gets back from the body shop, and ill come with gifts....if you think you can hang! brent scionlife 10-09-2003, 02:05 AM You are a post whore. :) randode 10-09-2003, 03:02 PM You are a post whore. :) I resemble that remark! scionaraxb 10-09-2003, 03:15 PM Wow.....incredible...bet you can speed right through one by now! sooooooooooo....got any stock xA spring you want to get rid of? huh..do ya? randode 10-09-2003, 03:28 PM sorry, no springs for sale. :( scionaraxb 10-09-2003, 03:58 PM man! there HAS to be someone with a lowered xA that wants to sell their stock springs! I love my xB, but I hate the bumpy ride(yes I knew it was bad when I bought one)..... so I was thinking that the xA is lighter and less top heavy then an xB, so it would make sense that the spring rate would be lighter. I don't really want to lower my xB so I was looking for a softer spring that wouldn't lower it too much.(an inch os so would be the MOST I'd lower it...but it would have to ride better for me to do that) Any suggestions? BTW- I love lowered cars..I've had lots of really low street rods and muscle cars, but the xB is my daily driver from MV to Seal Beach every day. Thundercloud xB w/ 17's. randode 10-09-2003, 04:13 PM i was told that xA springs will not fit in an xB. I dont know though. I've never put them side by side. I bet they will fit. scionaraxb 10-09-2003, 04:16 PM hmmmmmm.........I'd heard different. and some of the aftermarket spring companies have only one part number for BOTH xa and xB. randode 10-09-2003, 04:18 PM get some springs, lets try it! scionaraxb 10-09-2003, 05:06 PM Thanks.I might just take you up on the offer......... I've been looking around...seems like The Tein S. Tech springs are supposed to be fairly soft. Ever put those on anything? Know of them? Denso 10-09-2003, 05:21 PM randode: Of all the cars that you've lowered, how many have used TRD springs? How much do they lower the xB? I'd like to come out to the next meeting and see some xB's with TRD springs if possible. It seems like the masses prefer the SPY or other springs. Thanks for your input. eric_m 10-09-2003, 05:27 PM trd springs suck. they lower the car 1" and the ride isn't that great. why not go 2"? scionara 10-09-2003, 05:48 PM hmmmmmm.........I'd heard different. and some of the aftermarket spring companies have only one part number for BOTH xa and xB. We installed an Eibach springs for an xB into an xA last week. It fits just fine but the rear only dropped an inch (supposed to be 1.6 or 1.8 I can't remember). Here's a link for more info. http://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2287 randode 10-09-2003, 05:59 PM come out to the meet. some people have TRD, some Spy, some Eibach. scionaraxb 10-09-2003, 06:00 PM hmmmmmm.........I'd heard different. and some of the aftermarket spring companies have only one part number for BOTH xa and xB. We installed an Eibach springs for an xB into an xA last week. It fits just fine but the rear only dropped an inch (supposed to be 1.6 or 1.8 I can't remember). yeah...according to Eibach's web site the xA and xB are the same part number xA PRO-KIT 1.5 in 1.6 in 8281.140 xB PRO-KIT 1.6 in 1.8 in 8281.140 I think the only difference in drop is that the xA is lighter, so it drops less. randode 10-09-2003, 06:06 PM hmmm. someone should put xA Spy's on their xB for uber-drop scionaraxb 10-09-2003, 06:12 PM hmmm. someone should put xA Spy's on their xB for uber-drop Question is.......do they have 2 different springs for the different cars....... I just noticed that they have a 1.25" drop spring............so do they really ride good.even softer then stock? randode 10-09-2003, 06:27 PM i wouldnt say the spy is BETTER than stock. possibly just AS GOOD as stock. Im very happy with the ride of my wifes xB on 2" Spy's. scionaraxb 10-09-2003, 11:32 PM OK...I emailed Scion about the springs, they said that the xA and xB are exactly the same spring. Anybody try the Tein S Tech springs yet? randode 10-09-2003, 11:39 PM OK...I emailed Scion about the springs, they said that the xA and xB are exactly the same spring. Anybody try the Tein S Tech springs yet? ok, whos going to try Echo springs in a scion? Denso 10-09-2003, 11:57 PM Thanks for the input guys. So are there going to be people at Krispy Kreme this Sunday, or is everone going to the Drift deal at Irwindale? Eric: Which would you say are better as far a lowering and ride quality, Spy or Eibach? scionaraxb 10-10-2003, 12:13 AM ok, whos going to try Echo springs in a scion? I will! I will! Do they ride softer then the Scions??? LOL! randode 10-10-2003, 03:21 PM you could probably get some echo springs from a wrecked echo. i dont think there will be a TSW meet this sunday since most of us will be at the drift show. eric_m 10-10-2003, 03:23 PM if you guys put echo springs in your scion, the car will be HIGHER than stock. most people don't realize the stock scion springs are "sport springs" and are already lower than the echo ones. stiffer too. randode 10-10-2003, 03:34 PM is that why the echo looks like it was kicked in the ___? scionaraxb 10-10-2003, 03:37 PM if you guys put echo springs in your scion, the car will be HIGHER than stock. most people don't realize the stock scion springs are "sport springs" and are already lower than the echo ones. stiffer too. All I want is to take the edge off the ride. Guess I need to go the air route, huh? eric_m 10-10-2003, 03:51 PM if you guys put echo springs in your scion, the car will be HIGHER than stock. most people don't realize the stock scion springs are "sport springs" and are already lower than the echo ones. stiffer too. All I want is to take the edge off the ride. Guess I need to go the air route, huh? no. i think if you think the stock suspension is too stiff then you might consider trading in the xB for a nice comfortable camry. scionaraxb 10-10-2003, 03:55 PM if you guys put echo springs in your scion, the car will be HIGHER than stock. most people don't realize the stock scion springs are "sport springs" and are already lower than the echo ones. stiffer too. Guess I need to go the air route, huh? no. i think if you think the stock suspension is too stiff then you might consider trading in the xB for a nice comfortable camry. (it was a joke....no dis intended) Nah.I love the car. I just want to customize my suspension to suit me better. Kinda like you, but in a different way. I'm just looking for some suggestions and/or help figuring out what to try. eric_m 10-10-2003, 04:01 PM you know...echo springs just might work. they have a softer spring rate, and even though they are taller, they would sit a little lower. so it might work out. try it. scionaraxb 10-10-2003, 04:08 PM you know...echo springs just might work. they have a softer spring rate, and even though they are taller, they would sit a little lower. so it might work out. try it. Maybe a set of Eibach echo springs? That might cure the height problem, I sure don't want to raise my xB! LOL! eric_m 10-10-2003, 04:23 PM but then the ride will be stiff again. scionaraxb 10-10-2003, 04:49 PM but then the ride will be stiff again. I give up! I'm just gonna bolt a Corvette front and rear suspension in! eric_m 10-10-2003, 04:52 PM corvette suspension will not feel right on your car. just try the stock echo springs. also, do you have big wheels. smaller wheels and bigger sidewall provide a better ride. scionaraxb 10-10-2003, 05:02 PM ok, ok...no 'vette suspension...... Yes I have bigger wheels I put on.....17X7's w/ 215-40-17 tires. I seriously didn't notice a huge difference in ride from the stock 15's. The cornering is much better with them though. yanges 11-11-2003, 01:00 AM trd springs suck. they lower the car 1" and the ride isn't that great. why not go 2"? what springs do a 2" drop but keep a somewhat soft ride? i do not want to be driving a stagecoach!! :) greenbox 11-11-2003, 01:05 AM trd are not lowering springs eric the're true sport handling spring thets why they can corner better thatn some of the other springs. And the ones i have on my xb are the waydo sportivo frome japan. hey but to each his own. randode 11-11-2003, 02:58 PM i like the spy 2" springs myself, but it all comes down to personal preference. Ive installed springs on the following: 1.7" Tanabe 1 xB 2.2" Tanabe 1 xB 1.8" Eibach 2 xA's 1.25" Spy 1 xB 2" Spy 1 xA and 6 xB's yanges 11-11-2003, 04:00 PM i like the spy 2" springs myself, but it all comes down to personal preference. Feels just like stock yanges 11-11-2003, 04:39 PM i am totally happy with the ride of the Spy's. Feels just like stock Thanks randode! 8) i appreciate the feedback! squirrel 11-12-2003, 05:15 PM yanges, Granted, this is just my opinion, and what my 39 year old fat a$$ is telling me. I have the 2" drop Spy springs on my xB. The ride feels a bit softer than the harsh stock springs. There is some bounce to it when I'm hitting multiple descrepancies(sp?) on the freeways up here in the bay area. I think its mainly due to the shortened travel of the shocks though, and with running 205/40-17s. I am truly satisfied with my spring choice. Heck I had three different sets of springs in my Matrix before I stayed w/ the TEINs. just my 1 1/2 cents, squirrel yanges 11-13-2003, 01:49 AM Thanks squirrel! nice to get some feedback to help me decide what to do......now i just gotta decide if i really want to dump my xB or not! i am waiting to see a pic of randode's with his 215/17/40 wheels/tires as that is what i have.... 8) squirrel 11-13-2003, 08:36 AM yanges, Click on the link in my sig, it has the pics of my xB lowered w/ 205/40-17s. The back is sagging a tad as the stock tires and wheels are back there. Otherwise, it sits level when no one is back there. squirrel yanges 11-14-2003, 02:57 AM yanges, Click on the link in my sig, it has the pics of my xB lowered w/ 205/40-17s. The back is sagging a tad as the stock tires and wheels are back there. Otherwise, it sits level when no one is back there. squirrel looks good squirrel! i think that height would make my Polar xB look better as there would not be as big of a gap from tire to fender.... just so i get this straight, you guys who have the 2" Spy's think they are as good or a little better ride than stock, right? i like the way it rides now, so that would be perfect if that is the case.... one more thing, if i get the Spy's and decide i do not like them for some reason, can i go back to my stock set-up? any thoughts on this would be appreciated! randode 11-14-2003, 02:46 PM yanges, Click on the link in my sig, it has the pics of my xB lowered w/ 205/40-17s. You will be happy with the Spys though. jjambox 11-14-2003, 02:52 PM how well do 1.2 spy ride? randode 11-14-2003, 03:04 PM how well do 1.2 spy ride? PM djfrost, he has the Spy 1.25's on his xB. projxB 11-18-2003, 04:54 PM how well do 1.2 spy ride? I might be selling my 1.25" spy springs if anybody is interested. The ride is really nice, better then stock, but i want to go lower with a coil-over kit. yanges 11-21-2003, 11:11 PM is it necessary, as i have seen posted elsewhere, to cut the bump stops when doing a 2" drop? i saw a post that indicated that anything from 1.75" or lower should have them cut down a little to avoid bottoming out the struts? any thoughts on this would be appreciated! yanges 11-23-2003, 04:41 PM bump stop hahajoey 11-23-2003, 05:21 PM are the tanabe 1.7(NF210) springs low enuff drop to run 18's all around? like will it be nice enuff. after seeing everyone's pictures, i keep telling people to get spy, cuz it looks like its the best drop for 18's... but will the nf210 do? cuz tanabe springs aren't as much as eibach i think. and eibach is 1.8.. and tananbe is 1.7. i dunno. anyone with pictures of nf210 riding on 18s? |
