Stock Pioneer Stereo..
okay...
call me odd
but i just wanna know what kinda power can the stock H/U handle
i was thinking abou putting 2 10's powered by a 200-300 watt amp
but i really dont want to lose to 6 disc changer...(stock h/u)
will the 2 10's sound good?...
ty have a nice day

I agree....the amp won't be pulling power from the head unit...only a 12-volt power signal
The tens will prolly sound fine, but the rest of the mediocre system will only sound so-so...
I don't think that much bass with the stock stereo will sound good...I suggest upgrading the rest of the speakers first...then add the tens. Also, I don't know about the 6 disc unit...but the stock unit doesn't offer much in the way of sound adjustment (or preamp outputs?).

the stock deck is a waste unless it's the 6disc. it doesnt have much power , it has pretty much no crossover features , cheap action buttons. eh lots of things i dont like nevermind , just me being myself. all imo.
I say keep the h/u, go online and buy wire harness with rca outs for amps and wire up your subs and mids and highs and of course replace the factory speakers. That is exactly what I'm gonna try to do next week after I get TRD springs installed. I got 2 amps a 15" sub (still need to order enclosure) and 4 6.5" mids and 4 tweeters (gonna probably take a while). I have no plan of replacing 6 disc changer, I like it fine!

Well really the stock speakers are prett good. I just bought a new headunit and man it changed how the speakers sound. It does have a built in eq and xover i in it but it sounds real nice. I had the stock H.U. with my 2 12's since i purchased my xB and it is like you said OK just like you guys said that the stock unit makes the mids not sound so well. So you will be suprised how well the stock speakrs sound with a new head unit.

Truthfully, you're going to get about 12 watts per channel from the stock head unit, and that's max. Nowhere near enough to power any speakers (other than the stockers, as this is what they are designed for). Am I saying to upgrade the HU or stock speakers? In no way. There is a simple way around this, actually several.
1. Buy an amp with a hi-level input. With this, you can tap the rear speakers and run them direct to the amp.
2. Buy a line-out/hi-level convertor. Again, tap the rear speakers, they convert the stereo signal to RCA jacks to hook your amp into.
3. Buy a better line-out convertor (my preferred method). A few of the better ones are the JL Audio Cleansweep, AudioControl LS6, Phoenix Gold (forgot the model number). These all do the same thing as a line-out convertor, except they do it better, and they correct the frequencies.
As for replacing the stock speakers, I wouldn't worry about that right now, as I assume you're content with the sound, but just want more bass, no? Installing an amp and sub(s) would be fine for your case. The stocks will sound fine off of thedeck, and actually giev you a broader range than 995 of the component speakers out there. Again, I'm not saying stock is best here, but they sound the best off of deck power. It's kind of useless to upgrade the speakers without amping them, as it's pretty much defeating the purpose. From a budget standpoint, I'd use one of the methods I described above to tap the stock system and add your subs, then, as the budget allows, replace the stock speakers. Actually, unless you're going to have passengers in the back all the time, I'd keep the stocks running off the deck, and replace the fronts with better quality components with a nice amp.

Riccochet,
I do agree with you, If someone is willing to spend the money for a converter like the cleansweep or something then that's def. the best route...otherwise I say Hi-Level Inputs are the way to go w/ a stock deck.....
only problem is, some people don't understand why they shouldn't just use a scosche/wal-mart Line Level Converter......the quality of them suck.....
