my question is, is their a differnce between buying the axle back hks Hi-power exhaust and buying a hks hi power universal muffler with a axle back custom piping done at a muffler shop thats mandrel bent and using 2.5 piping? is their any pros or cons to making a custom exhaust? Will they give around the gains horsepower wise. Also anyone know any good muffler shops around Orange County?

The HKS axleback version comes with 60mm (2.36") piping. If you are doing a 2.5" custom, you might as well do a new 2.5" midpipe with a high-flow cat and the 2.5" s-pipe when they come out.

how do you do a high flow cat?
I plan on doing custom also, but i have an apexi n1 n/a muffler, how much piping and up to which point do i replace too?

chop off ur resonator... using the same flange. weld on a custom exhaust and bolt it on ...something like an axleback. you feel the difference w/o the rosonator

The TC piping is right around 2.125" not 2.5". The stock tubing will slip nicely inside of a 2.25" tube. I know cause I have done it. Also chopping off your resonator will not give you any more noticable power. It will make you exhaust louder though.

Yes, you are incorrect, but i seen those pics and figures, and i know what the s pipe is and i know i have to cut it before the s pipe, but would the muffler guy, like to convert the pipe size and i wanted to tell him exactly where to add the new pipe, and does anyone have measurements?

are you guys gettin #'s from what people have said or have you gone undery our car, unscrewed the bolts and took a ruler/measurment tape and measured the pipe

cuz i have and it came out to 2.5 inches after the s-pipe

^^^i am sorry, but i have not measured it, but from an assumption of a factory putting a 2.5 inch on a stock little tc is sort of awkard..O_O

well i have a custom 2.5 all the way through. and yes it is bigger then stock. the stock is 2.25 iono what that guys talkin bout hes a fool or he doesn't kno how to measure. Also you will feel a gain! You may lose a bit of torque but im guesssing i gained 10whp. cause with my Mr. Dyno thing i tested it with it said i got a 12.5whp gain after putting on the 2.5inch on. Oh yea i don't havea cat or resenator anymore.

If you take your car to a muffler shop they should be able to build a exhaust kit without needing any measurements. If you are looking to gain power I would replace all of the tubing under the car including the S pipe. It seems people are having good luck with 2.5" tubing. Depending on what muffler you get you will probably want to have them add a resonator. If you get any of those small Fireball sytle mufflers I would get a extra long resonator. This should cut down on some of the rasp normally associated with those mufflers. Also have them use mandrel bend and not crush bends when at all possible. Depending on what state you live you might have emmsions issues with replacing the cat . The shop may or may not want to remove it. This is why none of the major exhuast manufactures are making a full exhaust system. If you have the money a stainless system would be best but you should be ok with aluminized tubing as long as you spray it with some hitemp exhaust paint.
